2AM's Jo Kwon Reveals Past Marriage Plans, Heartbreaking Breakup, and Why He's Still Single

Korean singer Jo Kwon (조권) recently shared rare details about his past romantic life, revealing he was in a long-term relationship with a former girlfriend and even seriously considered marriage and starting a family. However, the relationship ultimately ended. Still single, he admitted, "There's no one I like that much right now."

On May 8, Jo Kwon appeared on the YouTube channel "Rolling Thunder" for the program "New Woman." Discussing marriage, he revealed that all four members of 2AM — himself, Lee Chang-min (이창민), Lim Seul-ong (임슬옹), and Jeong Jin-woon (정진운) — are currently unmarried.

Jo Kwon emphasized that he is not opposed to marriage; in fact, he has always harbored thoughts of it. "I've always wanted to get married and start a family," he stated. "I think I would try very hard to be good to my partner." He showed a serious side when discussing his ideal married life.

He also shared that he recently discussed marriage with the 2AM members and host Jun Hyun-moo (전현무) while filming a show. Jo Kwon chuckled, "Hyun-moo *hyung* isn't married yet, and all the members are single, so we talked about marriage. The conversation got really exaggerated." He even joked, "At this rate, it seems none of us will ever get married," which drew laughter from the set.

When it came to his own dating experiences, Jo Kwon was candid. He admitted, "While I haven't dated many times, whenever I start a relationship, it tends to last a long time." He openly acknowledged a past long-term relationship.

This particular relationship had even reached the point of being "with marriage in mind." Jo Kwon revealed, "Because I was with that person for a very long time, I had a strong desire to get married at the time." This shows that he was not casually dating but had seriously considered a future with his partner.

As for why he hasn't married yet, Jo Kwon simply stated, "I think it's because there isn't anyone I like to that extent right now." This remark suggests that Jo Kwon is not rushing into marriage for the sake of it but is waiting for the right person with whom he truly wants to spend his life before considering the next stage.

In fact, Jo Kwon has previously spoken publicly about his feelings during a breakup with a former girlfriend. In 2024, during an appearance on SBS's "Strong Heart VS," he recalled the moment they broke up, saying he could sense their feelings had faded just by looking at her expression. He revealed that she said, "Let's end things here," as heavy rain poured outside. "That moment was like a scene from a movie or drama, but it actually happened in real life."

To try and salvage the relationship, Jo Kwon even knelt down and grabbed onto her pants, but ultimately, he couldn't change the outcome. He lamented, "We were together for so long, but we broke up without any particular reason. Several years of time vanished like smoke in five minutes." This memory led Jo Kwon to reflect on how a long-standing relationship could end in just a few minutes.
