ATEEZ's Hongjoong Sustains Rib Fracture, Vows to Continue Scheduled Activities for Fans
Hongjoong (김홍중), the leader of K-pop boy group ATEEZ, has sustained a rib fracture but has decided to proceed with his scheduled activities to honor commitments to fans. His professional dedication has garnered significant attention.
KQ Entertainment, ATEEZ’s agency, released a statement regarding Hongjoong’s health on its official website on the 13th. The company revealed that Hongjoong had been experiencing persistent coughing and underwent a medical examination, which diagnosed him with a rib fracture. Medical professionals advised him to get ample rest and avoid strenuous activities.
The agency initially suggested that Hongjoong take a temporary break, but he strongly expressed his desire to complete at least the schedules already promised to fans. KQ Entertainment stated, “We respect the artist’s wishes and have decided to proceed with the relevant schedules, ensuring no undue burden on his health.”
However, the agency emphasized that for upcoming performances, including the “STANBUL FESTIVALI” scheduled for the 14th, Hongjoong’s stage participation will be flexibly adjusted based on his physical condition at the time. The company noted, “We will continuously monitor Hongjoong’s health and adjust his stage arrangements accordingly. We kindly ask for fans’ understanding.”
KQ Entertainment also affirmed that Hongjoong’s health and safety will be the top priority moving forward, including flexibly rescheduling subsequent activities to allow him to focus on rest and a swift recovery.
Meanwhile, ATEEZ has been actively promoting their 14th mini-album, “GOLDEN HOUR : Part.5,” released on June 26 this year. The title track, “BAD,” has not only achieved strong chart performance, but member Choi San’s (최산) signature “chest-shaking dance” has also sparked a viral imitation trend on social media. Numerous celebrities have participated in the challenge, with even acclaimed Korean actor Ma Dong-seok (마동석) dubbing himself “Ma-San” on Instagram and sharing his own challenge video, generating widespread discussion.
