BTS's Jungkook's "Seven" Accused of Plagiarizing FIN.K.L's "Time for Disguise"!

Caridee小編8/22/2023 1 min read

BTS's Jungkook previously released his solo single "Seven," breaking records by becoming the Korean artist who ranked first on the U.S. Billboard chart for five consecutive weeks. However, recently "Seven" is accused of possible plagiarism by the Korean media.

On the 22nd, the Korean media outlet Alpha Economy reported that BTS Jungkook's single "Seven" released on July 21st, used the main part of FIN.K.L's "Time for Disguise" released in 2000 without any changes.

A music insider told Alpha Economy, "Upon confirmation, the main melodies of the 'Seven' by Meiguk and 'Time for Disguise' by FIN.K.L, both composed by several foreign composers, are very similar. To my knowledge, some renowned domestic composers also stated that from a harmonics perspective, it's the same song."

It is reported that "Seven" by Masaki Kuni is co-composed by Andrew Watt, John Belian, Henry Walter, Theron Makiel Thomas, and Lato. Additionally, FIN.K.L's "Time for Disguise" is composed by one of the pioneering K-POP composers.

It is known that the composer also sent information including audio sources and pitch charts to one of the famous producers at HYBE. The HYBE side cited that Chairman Bang Si-hyuk of the HYBE board was on a business trip to the United States. Therefore, it is unable to deliver the relevant information and give a reply. They still have not made any official comments or responses.

BTS's Jungkook continues to be adorably charming after his TikTok antics, causing the internet to erupt with laughter and endless praise!

The superstar boy band BTS, and especially Jungkook, often uses Weverse to live stream and chat with their fans, also known as the ARMY. However, on the 3rd, Jungkook did something unusual, broadcasting live not on Weverse, but on his recently exposed TikTok account, causing a lot of laughter with his cute behavior. On the 3rd, a netizen shared a post titled "BTS Jungkook's First TikTok Live: 'Don't Know What This Is, But Better Turn It Off'" on an online discussion forum. In the post, they shared the funny conversation Jungkook had while live-streaming on TikTok that day. A netizen posted several tweets about Jungkook's recent live broadcast on TikTok. At that time, Jungkook said that he used TikTok for the first time to interact with ARMYS out of curiosity. However, Jungkook, who was using TikTok Live for the first time, was scared off by the swarming 'gift icons'. Jungkook immediately said: "Huh? What is this? I don't know what it is but please stop sending it", "I said please stop sending", "There are a lot of weird things here, what is this?" "How do I turn this off? This? Hmm... settings", "What is this? I don't know what it is, but hurry up and turn it off for now, goodbye, that was hard work". After seeing this, netizens were all cracking up over Jungkook's antics, commenting things like "So cute LOL", "I'm dying laughing, dizzy Jeong-guk is too adorable", "They even live-stream on TikTok? Why didn't I know? I'm dizzy", and "It appears Jungkook is very flustered XD." "Mae-gook, who couldn't resist his curiosity, eventually made a joke and he was so cute," "How can Mae-gook be so cute, I almost died laughing," "Mae-gook, hurry up and learn TikTok XD," "He's a very curious Mae-gook," "You can hear from his tone that he's really panicked XD," and other responses were warmly received. Previously, Jungkook praised his junior group ENHYPEN on Weverse on the 1st, accidentally revealing his secret TikTok account "Ian". After the private account was exposed, it attracted a lot of fans to follow. Within 2 hours, it already had over 3.4 million followers, and he changed the account name back to "JK".

After seeing the related report, Netizens left comments, "What? They're totally different!" and "Even if I continue to listen, I can't find any similarities." Another said, "Out of curiosity, I listened to FIN.K.L's song, but the song's ambiance and melody seem completely different. Is this some kind of plagiarism that only composers know about and not the public? Shouldn't plagiarism be immediately noticeable as similar? This is hard to discuss... I really don't know where the two songs are similar..."

BTS's Jungkook accidentally revealed his secret SNS account and name, causing laughter among netizens! Jungkook humorously asked fans to stop laughing!K-Pop

BTS's Jungkook accidentally revealed his secret SNS account and name, causing laughter among netizens! Jungkook humorously asked fans to stop laughing!

One day, BTS member Jungkook praised ENHYPEN members Jay and Jungwon through Weverse for participating in the dance challenge for his new song "Seven". In this process, Jungkook accidentally revealed his secret SNS account. Jungkook praised the dance of his juniors, and BTS's Ji-min, Jin and fans also expressed their admiration. However, the link that Jungkook uploaded can be connected to his personal social networking service, which means that Jungkook inadvertently shared his personal SNS account. Netizens also found that Jungkook's private account was not registered under his real name, but under the pseudonym "Ian". Later, Jeoguk seemed to feel that the pseudonym "Ian" was awkward, so he changed his account ID to his own name, "JK". Jungkook also discovered that his account had been exposed, so he left a message on Weverse saying, "Although it is me, I will not use that account." Jungkook explained that this account is used to monitor personal information. However, fans actually think that Jungkook's use of the name "ian" is very cute, and Jungkook himself also begged fans not to tease him by using any other names, which caused a lot of laughter. In other news, Mapo-gu released a new song as a solo artist on the 14th, sweeping both domestic and international charts. According to Billboard, "Seven" is ranked 9th on its main singles chart, Hot 100, and has been in the top 10 for two consecutive weeks. Recently, Billboard has excluded the sales of albums and songs on individual artists' websites from its statistics, indirectly disadvantaging K-POP artists who have strong fan bases. Nevertheless, Jungkook still captured the fans and the public, sweeping the Billboard Hot 100. Editor: How did you come up with that name! 🤣

BTS's Jungkook's Encore Stage in Inkigayo Sparks Controversy! He Hurriedly Turns on Live Stream!K-Pop

BTS's Jungkook's Encore Stage in Inkigayo Sparks Controversy! He Hurriedly Turns on Live Stream!

BTS member Jungkook released his solo new song "SEVEN" in the middle of the month, which immediately topped the American Billboard Hot 100 as soon as it was released. Not only that, but it also won first place in popular music on the 30th. However, the encore part provoked a heated debate. Today (31st), a post titled "Who is calling out Jungkook on Weverse live, come out quickly" appeared on an online discussion forum. In the post, screenshots from Jungkook's live broadcast and some reactions from netizens on other social media were shared. The incident started when Jungkook appeared on the music variety show "Inkigayo" to promote his solo new song "SEVEN" and successfully won first place on "Inkigayo". During the encore stage, fans under the stage also sang with Jungkook, but at 3:37, a "unique" voice emerged, which sparked hot discussion. Despite previously publicly praising ARMYs for their good singing, it was later discovered that a "unique" vocal line occurs at 3:37 in the publicly released encore fancam, which completely contradicts what Jungkook had said before. So, Jungkook, despite being very tired, insisted on doing a live stream to find the 'unique' voice within the 3:37 mark. He interacted with fans using the title "Who is it, come out quickly" for the live stream. After reading the post, netizens have left comments such as "How are Jungkook and ARMYs so cute", "Super funny", "How can you say ARMYs sing well, they are clearly known to be tone-deaf XD" "The one at 3:37 is so adorable", "The chaotic moment of Army was really funny", "Ah! I really want to say I was the one at 3:37! Jungkook is too cute, envious of the one at 3:37", "3:37 is the sound of singing desperately XD", etc. Editor: Jeongguk is really cute😍😍
