Chungha's Contract Nears End with MORE VISION; Jay Park's Comment Ignites Fan Outrage

The contract between K-pop solo artist Kim Chungha (김청하) and MORE VISION, the agency founded by Jay Park (박재범), is nearing its expiration, drawing significant attention to her future career moves. However, Park's comment, "Go look at other companies and find the best choice for yourself," unexpectedly angered fans, with many criticizing his disrespectful attitude towards Chungha and questioning MORE VISION's management of her career over the past two years.

Chungha joined MORE VISION in October 2023 after leaving MNH Entertainment, her agency of many years. At the time, the news generated considerable excitement among fans who anticipated a fresh start for her.

Recently, Chungha discussed her contract status during an interview with K-POPIT, revealing that her contract with MORE VISION is set to expire soon and that both parties are discussing future directions. She mentioned that Jay Park even suggested she explore other agencies before deciding on the best option for herself.

Chungha stated, "My contract is almost up, and we are currently still in discussions. Jay Park actually told me to go and explore other companies to find the best choice for myself, so we are still discussing the best plan."

This statement sparked widespread discontent among fans, who directed their criticism at MORE VISION, accusing the company of failing to deliver on its initial promises. One fan commented, "They initially said they would give Chungha the best resources, but now they're telling her to find another company. This is truly disrespectful. They wasted several years of her prime, and they didn't fulfill any of their promises to her and her fans." Others slammed the agency, saying, "They desperately poached Chungha, thinking she could make money for the company, but her promotions were pitifully scarce, and now they're telling her to find a better company."

Many fans had high hopes for Chungha joining MORE VISION, given her status as one of Korea's leading female solo artists, known for hit songs like "Gotta Go" and "Snapping." However, many believe that after joining MORE VISION, her promotional resources, activity scheduling, and work exposure did not meet external expectations.

Criticism also emerged on Korean online communities, with some netizens stating, "They begged Chungha to join the company, but then barely arranged any activities for her. Now that her contract is almost up, they're telling her to find other companies—that's truly outrageous." Another commented, "It feels like he's ready to let go and has no intention of continuing to manage her properly."

However, some netizens believe that Jay Park's statement may not have been malicious. Instead, they interpret it as a sign of respect for Chungha's choices, hoping she finds the agency most beneficial for her development. They support Chungha in carefully considering her next steps and choosing the future that best suits her.

As of now, there has been no definitive decision regarding Chungha's contract renewal with MORE VISION, and discussions between both parties are ongoing.
