Comedian Seong Hyeon-ju Visits Late Son's Urn with Daughter, Stirring Emotions Online

Korean comedian Seong Hyeon-ju (성현주), 42, married an entrepreneur six years her senior in 2011. The couple welcomed a son, but their happy family was struck by tragedy in 2020 when their son, Seo-hoo, passed away from sepsis at the tender age of five, plunging the family into immense grief.

Recently, Seong visited the columbarium with her husband and their second daughter to pay respects to Seo-hoo, who passed away several years ago. On December 13, she shared a photo on social media without any accompanying text, simply capturing the family's moment of remembrance for their son.

In the photo, her husband holds their young daughter in front of Seo-hoo's urn. Seong Hyeon-ju is a comedian from KBS's 22nd open recruitment, previously beloved by audiences for her lively and humorous persona. After marrying in 2011, she gave birth to her eldest son, Seo-hoo, in 2014. Tragically, he passed away on Christmas Eve in 2020 from sepsis at just five years old, leaving an indelible scar on the family.

Following the loss of her son, Seong Hyeon-ju compiled her experiences from their 1,000 days together in the hospital into an essay, documenting their journey. She donated all royalties from the book to Seoul National University Children's Hospital, hoping to help other children undergoing treatment.

Despite the immense pain of losing a child, Seong Hyeon-ju has worked to rebuild her life. After multiple in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments, she finally welcomed her second daughter last September, bringing new joy to the family.
