Actor Choi Daniel (최다니엘) recently reflected on his past as a radio DJ, sharing a rare anecdote involving singer IU (아이유). A minor live broadcast error from over a decade ago has apparently stayed with him, causing him to recall the regrettable moment every time he sees her on television.
During a recent episode of SBS Radio's “Wendy's Young Street,” actor Jang Keun-suk (장근석) served as a special DJ and invited Choi Daniel as a guest. On the show, Choi Daniel reminisced about his time hosting KBS Radio's “Choi Daniel's Pops Pops” and revealed a live broadcast mistake he still can't forget.
Choi Daniel explained, "I remember one mistake. It was only my third day after moving from a late-night show to a morning show, and because it was live, I was really flustered. And of all days, IU was the guest." He continued, "At the end of the show, don't you usually give a closing greeting? But at the time, there wasn't enough time, and I couldn't even properly say goodbye before she had to leave. That shock still remains with me."
Due to the fixed broadcast schedule of live programs, Choi Daniel was unable to properly bid farewell to his guest as the show was ending. The fact that the guest that day was IU made the small incident unforgettable for him, even after more than 10 years.
He confessed, "Since then, whenever I see IU on TV, I think, 'Ah, I should have said a proper goodbye to her then…'" revealing that he still recalls the incident every time he sees her. Jang Keun-suk, upon hearing this, asked curiously, "Have you met IU again since then?" Choi Daniel replied, "No, I've only seen her on TV."
Jang Keun-suk then comforted him, saying, "If you meet her again, I think this could become a really cute and funny story." Choi Daniel smiled shyly, responding, "If you're willing to remember it that way…" with a hint of embarrassment in his voice.
It's surprising that Choi Daniel still remembers a minor live broadcast incident from over 10 years ago so clearly. This time, he candidly expressed his regret for not being able to properly say goodbye to IU back then. What was once a slightly awkward live mistake has now become a warm memory, tinged with laughter.
