Dragon Pony's Pyeon Seong-hyeon Departs Group Less Than Two Years After Debut

South Korean band Dragon Pony officially debuted on September 26, 2024, with their first EP, “POP UP.” They were the first male band under Antenna, an agency known for its diverse roster of artists. Their music style primarily features modern rock, pop rock, and alternative rock, with many of their works centered around themes of youth. The group's distinguishing characteristics included “idol visuals + full band instrumentation + members' self-composition.” Dragon Pony consisted of four members: Ahn Tae-gyu (안태규), Pyeon Seong-hyeon (편성현), Kwon Se-hyeok (권세혁), and Ko Kang-hoon (고강훈), serving as vocalist, bassist, guitarist, and drummer, respectively.

However, news of a member's departure from Dragon Pony broke suddenly on the 25th, with Pyeon Seong-hyeon, who had been on hiatus due to health reasons, announcing his exit from the group. Their agency, Antenna, released a statement confirming that after extensive discussions and negotiations, both parties reached a mutual agreement to terminate his exclusive contract. Pyeon Seong-hyeon has officially concluded his activities as a member of Dragon Pony.

Antenna's recent statement began by expressing gratitude to fans who have supported Dragon Pony. The agency revealed that they had engaged in long-term discussions with Pyeon Seong-hyeon regarding the group's future activities, and after thorough consultation, ultimately decided to terminate their exclusive contract.

The company stated that Pyeon Seong-hyeon officially ceased his activities with Dragon Pony as of August 25, 2024, and will no longer participate in group activities as a member.

Regarding Dragon Pony's future, Antenna confirmed that the remaining three members will continue their activities as a group. The agency expressed hope that fans would continue to support both Dragon Pony and Pyeon Seong-hyeon as they embark on their respective new paths.

The company also apologized to fans for the sudden announcement of a member's departure, stating, “We deeply apologize for causing concern to fans with this sudden news.” Antenna further promised to do its utmost to ensure Pyeon Seong-hyeon can meet fans again with better music in the future.

Pyeon Seong-hyeon debuted as a member of Dragon Pony in September 2024. His activities were paused on July 22 of this year due to health reasons. The news of his departure during his hiatus, less than two years after the group's debut, has surprised many fans.

Currently, the company has not disclosed the specific reasons for the contract termination, emphasizing only that it was a mutual decision made after extensive discussion.

Notably, Antenna also manages several other prominent artists, including Yoo Jae-suk (유재석), Lee Hyo-ri (이효리), Lee Seo-jin (이서진), Yang Se-chan (양세찬), and Kyuhyun (규현), giving the agency significant influence in the Korean entertainment industry.
