ENHYPEN leader Yang Jungwon (양정원) recently became a trending topic after an unexpected moment during a livestream. While interacting with fans, he appeared to receive repeated phone calls from a suspected sasaeng fan. After first trying to stop the calls patiently, he eventually lost his temper and cursed at the caller, a rare break from his usually gentle image that sparked widespread discussion online.
According to Korean media reports, Yang went live on the 30th to chat with fans, but his phone kept receiving calls believed to be from a sasaeng fan. At first, he tried to keep his composure, saying, “Ah ... stop calling! Didn’t I just tell you not to call? Why are you calling again? Stop calling! Go somewhere else to have fun. Don’t bother me!” His tone already sounded clearly exasperated.
The calls continued, however, and Yang appeared to grow increasingly frustrated. He eventually swore directly at the caller, using the Korean profanity “새끼야 (saekkiya),” roughly meaning “bastard” or “jerk,” as he demanded that the person stop harassing him immediately.
Because Yang has been known since his debut for his gentle, composed image and has rarely, if ever, cursed on camera, the clip quickly spread online. Many fans said it was the first time in 6 years since his debut that he had sworn during a public livestream.
Online commenters wrote, “I can’t believe I saw Yang Jungwon swear for the first time in 6 years, and it was because of a sasaeng fan,” “This is really the first time I’ve heard him curse at someone. This is too much,” “How annoying do you have to be to push Yang Jungwon into swearing on a livestream?” and “If even Yang Jungwon couldn’t hold back and cursed, you know sasaeng fans have really gone too far.”
Many fans also defended his reaction, saying someone had finally been willing to confront sasaeng harassment directly. “He usually even reminds fans to speak kindly, but he was pushed to the point of cursing. That shows he must have been holding it in for a long time,” one wrote. Others said, “He didn’t choose to suffer in silence and instead stopped it firmly. I actually think he handled it well,” and “I hope sasaeng fans really stop this kind of behavior and stop disturbing artists’ lives.”
