Jeon Soyeon (전소연), a member of the South Korean girl group (G)I-DLE, has once again found herself at the center of speculation regarding public criticism of her agency. On October 27, she abruptly posted "I'm quitting" on social media, accompanied by a photo of her hand reaching towards the logo of her agency, Cube Entertainment (hereinafter Cube). This cryptic action immediately sparked heated discussion among netizens.
Soyeon wrote "퇴사할게여" (I'm quitting) on her social media and shared an image of her hand extended towards the Cube logo. It remains unclear whether she intended to showcase her nail art, which matched the logo's color scheme, or if she was waving at the logo. However, given her past instances that were widely interpreted as public jabs at Cube, this latest post has reignited speculation about whether she is once again hinting at issues with the company.

In 2024, as Soyeon's contract renewal with Cube approached, she performed lyrics during a show such as "My contract expires in November, who can stop me?" and "Why do I still have to care about what others think?" These lines were widely interpreted as a public challenge to Cube, leading to rumors of a strained relationship with the company and even a potential departure.
At the time, Cube responded by stating that the members' contract renewal period was in 2025 and emphasized that the content was merely part of a performance.
Soyeon herself refuted Cube's statement, saying, "There were no lies written in this performance, nor was anything intentionally hidden from the company. It was rehearsed dozens of times in front of everyone, and it was a stage we all completed together." She further implied that the incident made her realize the "inadequacy of the company's response to such matters."
Despite the controversy, Soyeon ultimately renewed her contract in December 2024 along with the other (G)I-DLE members, remaining under Cube Entertainment.
Now, only about two years later, Soyeon's sudden declaration of "I'm quitting" has once again sparked public conjecture. Whether she is joking, simply interacting with fans, or genuinely dissatisfied with the company, fans are eagerly awaiting her next move and any potential explanation.
Meanwhile, Soyeon is set to release her first solo album, Life is a Blast (tentative title: 《끝내주는 인생》), on September 7, officially commencing her solo activities.
