KARA’s Park Gyuri Says She Taught Sex Education to Classmates at About Age 7

KARA member Park Gyuri (박규리) recently shared an unusual childhood story, revealing that at about age 7 she once gathered her kindergarten classmates and played teacher to give them a sex education lesson — a memory that left the show’s guests visibly surprised.

The YouTube channel “No Back Tak Jae-hoon” released its latest video on Sept. 2, featuring Park as a guest. The episode, titled “Park Gyuri, the goddess who can’t leave Odyssey even if she acts cute and throws a tantrum,” showed her chatting with host Tak Jae-hoon (탁재훈).

During the program, Park discussed how her personality had stood out since childhood and unexpectedly brought up a story that stunned the studio. The production team asked whether it was true that, around age 7, she had called over her kindergarten friends, had them sit down and personally given them “sex education.” Park did not deny it. She said there happened to be a children’s sex education book in comic form at home, and after reading it, she shared what she had learned with her friends.

After hearing the story, Tak jokingly asked, “So you only talked about the theory?” Park, looking baffled, shot back, “How is a 7-year-old supposed to tell them anything practical?” drawing immediate laughter in the studio.

Their banter did not stop there. Park teased Tak in return, saying, “At least you should know more than I do, right?” Tak shot back, “You may not know this, but I might actually know less than you think.” He then added jokingly, “Even without being taught, I have experience and knowledge I gained by running into things firsthand,” prompting another round of laughter.

Beyond the odd story of being a “7-year-old sex education teacher,” Park also showed the confidence she said she has had since childhood. She said she was often praised for her looks from a young age, even joking, “I heard I was already glowing in the newborn nursery.” When the show asked who was the prettiest among the “three Gyu-ris” — Nam Gyu-ri, Jang Gyu-ri and Park Gyuri — she answered without hesitation: “Park Gyuri.”

As for the “Goddess Gyuri” nickname that has followed her for years, Park explained that the image gradually took shape on highly competitive variety shows when she was a rookie. She said she would actively jump in, respond and create talking points to secure more time on camera, and over time the “Goddess Gyuri” persona was formed.

But when the host asked, “Do you also think you are goddess-level?” Park again showed her variety-show instincts. She first replied, “Not really,” then immediately changed course and said, “I am the goddess.”

From teaching friends with a sex education comic book at age 7 to building the “Goddess Gyuri” image after her debut through confidence and variety-show savvy, Park’s distinctive, unapologetic personality once again became the program’s biggest highlight.
