A recent Korean television program unveiled a shocking true story: a husband allegedly used the frequency of marital intimacy as a basis for calculating household expenses. He reportedly continued to demand sex even when his wife was pregnant or suffered a broken leg in a car accident, leaving her physically and mentally exhausted and ultimately leading to the tragic end of their marriage.
The case was dramatized in the "Case Files" segment of Channel A's Korean program "Detectives' Business Secrets" (탐정들의 영업비밀) on September 21. The couple in the story met at a religious gathering and married after overcoming financial difficulties together. However, shortly after their wedding, the husband began making frequent and unilateral demands for intimacy from his wife.

Even after his wife became pregnant, the husband's demands did not subside. Later, when she suffered a broken leg in a car accident, he still refused to stop. The wife, under long-term stress, eventually broke down and reportedly told him, "It's okay even if you cheat," hoping he would leave her alone. However, the husband not only refused but allegedly used household expenses to control her, exerting financial pressure.
Even more shockingly, on days when their child was sick, the husband still demanded his wife go out. He even suggested "hiring someone to look after the child" so his wife could join him for what he called "hotel role-playing," offering to pay household expenses in exchange. This left the wife utterly heartbroken.

The breaking point for the wife came when she unexpectedly discovered her husband's household ledger. The ledger meticulously recorded every instance of their marital intimacy, with the husband assigning a monetary value to each act, which he then factored into their monthly living expenses.

Upon seeing these records, the wife felt immense humiliation and personal insult. She even went to a fortune teller to perform a ritual to "cut off her husband's virility." When the husband found out, he showed no remorse, instead questioning his wife, "Is it my fault for loving you?" Their marriage ultimately ended in divorce after prolonged conflict.
The hosts and guests on the program were all stunned. Host Kim Poong (김풍) exclaimed, "This level of sexual desire is like being possessed by a demon." Deok Bok-kang (덕복강) angrily stated, "Threatening your wife with financial power and household expenses, and bargaining with her—what kind of marriage is that?"
"Detectives' Business Secrets" is based on real-life cases, presenting the events and subsequent investigations through reenactments. It currently airs every Monday at 10 PM.
