The results of the Hwasa 'public indecency' case investigation are out

On the 31st of last month, the East Seoul District Prosecutor's Office concluded its investigation into the case of Hwasa, who was charged with performing an obscene public act. The final verdict was that there was no need to proceed with prosecution and the case was closed.

Hwa Sa appeared on a YouTube program to promote her song "I Love My Body". It was a time when Hwa Sa was embroiled in an obscenity controversy. When asked about it, Hwa Sa said, "Actually, when I was making 'I Love My Body', I had a very pure intention. I really liked myself, but I never expected that such an incident would occur immediately after the release of the new song."

Hwasa mentioned that she faced a mountain of criticism at the time due to a scandalous performance. Sung Sikyung immediately joked to comfort Hwasa "You found the right person. I am your senior in receiving bad reviews. Go search for my name!"

Hwasa continued, "It was during MAMAMOO's American tour at the time. As soon as I arrived in America and turned on my phone, I saw a super long notification from Kakao and found out there was a controversy about our performance." "I've never really been the type to let negative comments get to me, but the severity of the backlash this time was really high."

Hwasa said, "That day was our first performance so I should have adjusted my mindset. So before the performance, I was adjusting my condition and performing, and when I returned to the hotel after the performance, the members said to each other, 'You've worked hard.' As a result, I just broke down and started crying. That was probably the worst I've cried this year."

Hwasa later said that she went to the parking lot alone to calm down, ended up crying due to her breakdown, and attracting several car owners' attention. She jokingly said, "I originally thought there wouldn't be many people in the parking lot, but I guess I must have stood out too much, as two or three people started to approach me in concern. That's when I really woke up and thought I might be making a big deal out of it."

In May this year, Hwasa was embroiled in a controversy over "provocative performances" due to her explicit dance moves, and was accused by the Parent's Association of public obscenity. The final results of the investigation concluded that there were no suspicions, and the case was closed by the police. However, the Parent's Association was quite dissatisfied with this decision and has reapplied for a re-investigation to the police department.
