Jeon Wook-min, Actor Jeon So-min's Brother, Reveals Business Failure and Debt Struggles; Now Works Delivery
Jeon Wook-min (전욱민), the 38-year-old brother of South Korean actress Jeon So-min (전소민), 40, recently shared his past experiences with business failure. He revealed that his gym's revenue had plummeted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In a desperate attempt to recover, he took out credit card loans to invest in a protein powder business. However, the venture ultimately failed, leaving him suffocated by loan interest, debt, and rent.
On the 15th, Jeon Wook-min shared an update on his Instagram, reflecting on his life journey. He revealed that he had loved sports since childhood, naturally pursuing a sports-related major in college. After completing his military service, he became a fitness trainer. Between the ages of 26 and 31, he worked diligently, saved money, and eventually opened his own fitness center.
His entrepreneurial journey started smoothly, even leading him to believe he would quickly become wealthy. However, the sudden outbreak of the pandemic severely impacted the fitness industry, causing his center's revenue to plummet to rock bottom.
Seeing his business in trouble, Jeon Wook-min grew anxious. He explained that in his haste to overcome the difficulties, he applied for credit card loans to invest in a protein powder business. He admitted, "There's a saying, 'Don't go grocery shopping when you're hungry.' I was too desperate at the time, so I applied for credit card loans to start a protein powder business. Because I had been exercising for a long time and had built my physique, I think I underestimated how difficult it would be." Looking back, he reflected, "Now that I think about it, did I take everything too lightly?"
However, the protein powder business, launched without a comprehensive plan, ultimately failed. Jeon Wook-min confessed that he was overwhelmed daily by credit card loan interest, debt, and rent, barely managing to get by. Even his initial hope that "tomorrow would be better" gradually faded with each passing day. Eventually, he decided to leave his long-standing career in sports, bidding farewell to both his role as a fitness trainer and the gym he operated.
