aespa's Karina Apologizes for Lollapalooza Lyric Flub — Fans Say They Didn't Even Notice

K氏鄉民8/4/2026 1 min read

South Korean girl group aespa recently performed at the major U.S. music festival Lollapalooza Chicago 2026, delivering several hit songs and new tracks to an enthusiastic crowd. However, member Karina (카리나) later proactively admitted that she had forgotten lyrics during the performance due to nervousness and personally apologized to fans.

YouTube

aespa performed a string of classic hits like “Next Level” and “Savage,” alongside new songs such as “Rich Man” and “Lemonade.” The group sang 14 songs in just one hour, captivating the audience with their stable vocals and powerful choreography. Many fans praised the performance, calling it “concert-level.”

Instagram

Karina, in particular, received widespread acclaim for her performance. She showcased stable singing and dancing, delivered powerful rap verses, and actively engaged with the audience in English, radiating confidence and enjoyment on stage. Her presence once again demonstrated the charisma of a top idol, leading many netizens to comment, “You can tell she was really having fun.”

However, during the performance of “Savage,” Karina seemingly had a brief moment where she forgot her rap lyrics. While this minor error went largely unnoticed by the audience, with most not even realizing it happened, Karina still brought it up afterward. She confessed, “I was so nervous that I messed up the lyrics to a song I usually sing as easily as breathing.”

Karina then humorously poked fun at herself, even joking about writing a “formal apology letter.” She posted a series of messages, writing: “This is ridiculous.” “Yu Ji-min (유지민) is truly ridiculous.” “I need to write an apology letter.”

She then laughed, saying, “Is it because I’ve sung it too many times that I couldn’t sing it well?” “Is that it?” Finally, she assured fans, “This will absolutely never happen again.” She concluded by signing off, “August 2, 2026, Chicago, Yu Ji-min.”

Karina’s series of endearing and sincere remarks amused fans, who commented that no one would have noticed her forgetting the lyrics if she hadn't brought it up herself. Many netizens also noted Karina’s high standards for her performances, appreciating that she immediately addressed and apologized for even a momentary minor error, which further highlighted her dedication to the stage and her fans.
