Korean entertainer Kim Jong-kook (김종국) quietly married his non-celebrity girlfriend last year and has since openly shared details of his newlywed life. Recently, during a television appearance, he discussed his future parenting plans, not only admitting his growing concerns about becoming a father but also humorously apologizing in advance to his as-yet-unborn son, drawing laughter from the entire set.
On July 24, tvN's variety show “You Quiz on the Block” released its latest preview, titled “'Marriage is Really Good' — Newlywed Kim Jong-kook ♥ Yoo Jae-suk's Message to Jong-kook's Second Child?”, sparking considerable interest.
During the program, Yoo Jae-suk (유재석) noted that Kim Jong-kook frequently recommends marriage to those around him since tying the knot. Kim Jong-kook, without hiding his happiness, responded, “Marriage is truly wonderful. It feels like I’ve finally solved a lifelong puzzle.” He went on to share that the biggest change since marriage is that no matter where he goes or what he does, his thoughts are always with his spouse. “This feeling brings immense comfort and security,” he added.
However, Kim Jong-kook also confessed that once he has children, he will inevitably face the realistic challenges of parenting. “It’s going to be very tough,” he admitted.
Yoo Jae-suk then recalled that Kim Jong-kook had previously expressed a desire for his first child to be a daughter. In response, Kim Jong-kook laughed, explaining that if it were a daughter, he might be overly cautious in raising her. Therefore, he now feels that “if it’s a son, it might be a bit easier to raise.”
Unexpectedly, Yoo Jae-suk immediately retorted, “If it’s your son, I don’t think it will be easy at all.” He then joked that whether Kim Jong-kook has a son or a daughter, he should be mentally prepared, as Kim Jong-kook’s parenting style is bound to be extremely strict. Kim Jong-kook chuckled in agreement, responding, “My child isn’t even born yet, and I already feel sorry for him.” He then lightheartedly added, “Family education is truly important. I think my son is doomed, so I apologize in advance.”
Finally, Kim Jong-kook addressed his future son, saying, “Everything Dad does is for your own good, so don’t resent me.” This humorous remark, akin to recording an apology video in advance, once again delighted everyone present.
Kim Jong-kook reportedly held a private wedding ceremony in Seoul last September with his non-celebrity girlfriend, who is several years his junior, officially embarking on the next stage of his life.
