K-pop girl group LE SSERAFIM (르세라핌) is currently on their 'PUREFLOW' world tour. However, news of a last-minute cancellation for one of their Manila, Philippines dates has ignited heated discussion among fans. The second show, originally scheduled for December 6, was abruptly canceled by the organizer, with ticket holders for that date reassigned to the December 5 performance. The announcement drew widespread dissatisfaction from fans, and some netizens questioned whether the change was due to lower-than-expected ticket sales.

LE SSERAFIM has already completed several stops on their 'PUREFLOW' world tour. The Asian leg of the tour was originally set to conclude with a second Manila concert on December 6. However, the organizer recently issued a notice announcing the cancellation of that performance, stating that all ticket holders for December 6 would be accommodated at the December 5 show, held at the Mall of Asia Arena.
In their announcement, the organizer apologized to fans, stating the adjustment was made to ensure LE SSERAFIM could successfully complete their Manila performance. Nevertheless, the decision left many fans dismayed, particularly those who had already selected seats and made travel arrangements, expressing strong dissatisfaction with the last-minute change.
Some fans questioned how all attendees from two shows could be accommodated on a single day, particularly regarding seating arrangements. One netizen posted on social media, complaining: "If there are less than 1,000 seats left each day, how are they going to fit everyone? The math doesn't add up! And we already arranged our seats two days before the show. Do the seats and dates we paid for not matter?" The post clearly conveyed frustration with the organizer's arrangements.
In response to fan inquiries, the organizer stated that no additional seating would be required after the adjustment. However, this explanation did not fully quell the controversy, with fans remaining concerned about potential impacts on seating assignments and how the organizer would manage entry for the merged audience.
Beyond complaints from ticket holders, some netizens focused on ticket sales, even mocking the possibility that the concert was canceled due to poorer-than-expected sales. However, the organizer has not officially confirmed any link between the cancellation and ticket sales, so these claims remain online speculation.
On the other hand, some netizens believe this incident might reflect changes in the Hallyu (Korean Wave) market in Southeast Asia. Some fans pointed out that in recent years, Korean artists often skip certain Southeast Asian countries in their world tours and fan events, disappointing local fans. This long-term trend could potentially affect audience support for K-pop performances.
One netizen commented: "Glad to see the Hallyu market in the Philippines gradually cooling down," while another noted, "K-pop demand is decreasing, but P-pop (Philippine pop) artists are adding more shows due to increased demand." Another user added, "As a non-Filipino, I'm proud to see Filipinos slowly letting go of Hallyu and starting to support their own artists."
However, a single concert cancellation is not enough to prove a comprehensive decline in the Hallyu market in the Philippines. Whether LE SSERAFIM's Manila date adjustment was due to ticket sales, production arrangements, or other factors still awaits further explanation from the organizer. The incident has also prompted fans to re-examine overseas concert scheduling, ticketing arrangements, and the interaction between Korean artists and their Southeast Asian fanbase.
