BLACKPINK member Lisa (리사) has once again become a trending topic online after a social media post. A teaser for her new song, which has not yet officially been released, has drawn mixed reactions, with many netizens criticizing it and even questioning the direction of her solo music career.
Lisa is set to release a new single, “SaWaDiKa,” and has been sharing song teasers on social media platforms over the past few days. Recently, she unveiled a longer snippet of the track, revealing some of its lyrics for the first time, including lines like: “Hello, Sawadika / Yeah, you know my wrist is cold / Got this timepiece from Geneva / If you know it, then you know / I’m that bitch on your TV / In my Ferrari, indigo / La Lalisa, la diva / Sawadika there she go.”
However, the song snippet quickly drew negative reactions from a large number of netizens, with the controversy primarily stemming from two main issues.
Firstly, some netizens found the melody to be too similar to American singer-songwriter Slayyyter’s song “Crank.” Comments included: “I knew it, K-pop was bound to copy ‘Crank’ sooner or later,” and “This is too messy, Slayyyter’s ‘Crank’ completely overshadows this imitation.”
Beyond the alleged “song clash” controversy, many netizens also felt that the newly released snippet reaffirmed previous criticisms of Lisa’s solo work. They argued that both the song’s style and lyrical content appeared underdeveloped, suggesting her individual music direction might need reevaluation.
One netizen bluntly stated, “She really needs a truly talented songwriter, because what is this mess?” Others lamented, “I’ve never seen such a talented person wasted like this,” and “You can sing, you can dance, you have stunning visuals, and you’re a pop idol, yet you use all these advantages to make songs just to make money.”
Some even suggested Lisa possesses greater potential that she isn't utilizing: “She has so much potential, yet she prefers to keep mentioning her own name in every song.” Harsh comments also included: “Is she allergic to good music?” and “It’s truly terrible.”
However, some fans and music lovers remain optimistic about Lisa’s new venture into solo music, hoping that the official release of “SaWaDiKa” will showcase a different musical style from her previous works.
