Lisa (라리사 마노반), a member of the popular South Korean girl group BLACKPINK, has once again become a hot topic with the release of her new music. On October 23, she unveiled her new single "Tarantino" along with the mini-album "Press Play." However, the songs did not receive universal acclaim, drawing sharp criticism from some online users, with some even questioning whether she was attempting to replicate the viral success of other artists. These comments have ignited discussions on social media platform X.

Lisa's new song "Tarantino" draws inspiration from renowned film director Quentin Tarantino, incorporating action movie elements to create a strong Hollywood aesthetic. In the music video, Lisa transforms into an action heroine, navigating through obstacles in a hotel to deliver a letter to her favorite director, giving the entire concept a cinematic feel.

Despite the song and music video's efforts to create a distinct cinematic atmosphere, some online users were not impressed with the work itself. After the song's release, some took to X to criticize it bluntly, with one user stating, "Lisa, honestly, maybe being a musician isn't your calling." Another mocked, "Another song that's unlistenable." Some comments were even more sarcastic, such as "This is another victory for the hearing impaired," highlighting the sharp tone of the criticism.

Beyond criticism of the song itself, some users also targeted Lisa's creative direction, suggesting she might be trying to achieve viral social media success. They drew comparisons between her new song and "Nicole Kidman," a popular track by rising artist ADÉLA.

One user sarcastically remarked, "You can tell how much she wants to replicate the viral moment of 'Nicole Kidman.'" Another criticized, "She's really trying hard to make a song that can go viral like ADÉLA's, but her releases don't seem to genuinely break into the market, achieving no results beyond Thai bot accounts and YouTube spending for traffic." These comments have once again made Lisa's new song a hot topic of online discussion.

However, negative online comments do not represent the views of all listeners. Regardless of external opinions, the release of "Tarantino" marks the latest step in Lisa's solo music career.

The mini-album "Press Play" features six tracks: "SaWaDiKa," "V12," "Cobra," "Tarantino," "Cut U Off," and "Sweat." Lisa previously revealed that this work incorporates her personal growth journey and Thai cultural roots, with each song possessing its own distinct personality and style.

She also likened the entire mini-album to a film, hoping that when fans press play, they will feel as if they are entering a cinema, experiencing various musical styles and emotions through the different tracks.

Whether "Tarantino" can gradually gain traction and attract more listeners amidst the controversy, or if it will continue to be a polarizing work, remains to be seen.
