Actress Yu Jiae (유지애), formerly of K-pop girl group Lovelyz, and actor Kwak Siyang (곽시양) recently made a surprise announcement of their upcoming marriage. The couple had been dating quietly for about a year, with no prior dating rumors, and skipped the public acknowledgment stage to directly share their wedding news, which shocked many. Fellow Lovelyz member Ryu Sujeong (류수정) recently discussed Yu Jiae's impending marriage, offering her blessings and a rare glimpse into her true feelings upon hearing the news, even playfully making a request to her future “brother-in-law.”

Ryu Sujeong recently sat down for an interview with Korean media outlet OSEN to promote her upcoming fourth mini-album, “ALL THE COLORS I AM.” The album breaks new ground, delving into Ryu Sujeong's innermost self, documenting her journey of openly embracing pain, growing stronger, and ultimately finding her own light.

Last year, Lovelyz also reunited as a full group to perform at the 2025 KBS Gayo Daechukje, an experience that held special significance for Ryu Sujeong after a long hiatus. Reflecting on performing as Lovelyz again, Ryu Sujeong stated, “It had been a really long time since we performed as Lovelyz, and it felt incredibly strange, almost as if we had just been on stage together yesterday. That feeling was truly special.”

She also expressed her amazement that the members' familiarity with each other remained strong despite long periods apart. “Even after not seeing each other for a long time, that sense of familiarity is still there, which is truly amazing. It's not something that disappears with a short separation, and I feel very grateful and cherish it deeply.”

Lovelyz is also set to welcome its first married member. Yu Jiae announced her marriage to actor Kwak Siyang in November this year, marking a new chapter in her life. Discussing her bandmate's wedding news, Ryu Sujeong revealed that Yu Jiae had, since their younger days, half-jokingly, half-seriously expressed her dream of becoming a “wise wife and good mother,” a dream that has now come true.

She laughed, saying, “Since we were young, unnie (Yu Jiae) would half-jokingly, half-seriously say her dream was to become a wise wife and good mother. I find it amazing that she's actually achieving this dream, and it makes me wonder, 'Do things you say out loud really come true?'” This realization has prompted her to reflect on her own life and even decide to “start vocalizing my own dreams.”

Ryu Sujeong also openly extended her blessings to her bandmate: “She is a person full of love, so I am truly happy to see her find a partner with whom she can walk through life.”

However, when asked if she had met her future brother-in-law, Kwak Siyang, Ryu Sujeong hilariously revealed, “I haven't met him yet, but he appeared in my dream.” She explained that although she already knew about their wedding, she was still quite shocked when she actually dreamed of Kwak Siyang. “Even though I had already heard the news, I was still surprised. I actually dreamed of my brother-in-law.”

As for what she would say if she were to meet Kwak Siyang in the future, Ryu Sujeong laughingly replied, “I would probably say, 'Congratulations on your marriage, and please promise me that Lovelyz will definitely continue its activities.'” Her words showcased her deep affection for the group, leaving fans amused.

Regarding her own marriage plans, Ryu Sujeong admitted that she currently has no intention of getting married. She revealed that when the members occasionally joke about “who will get married first,” they often conclude, “Sujeong will probably be the last one to get married.” She explained, “I still have many things I want to do, and a strong desire to work, so I'm not ready for marriage yet.” Compared to entering marriage, she clearly prioritizes her career and dreams at this stage.
