Kim Jaejoong reveals a huge income gap between Japanese and Korean artists!
Singer Kim Jaejoong appeared on a Japanese variety show on the 10th, where he discussed the revenue from Korean-Japanese entertainment activities. When a Japanese participant asked him about the difference in appearance fees between Korean and Japanese variety shows, Kim Jaejoong said, "The cost of producing a show is different, and there is also a difference in staff wages. It's higher in Korea." Kim Jae-Joong has been active in both Japan and Korea since his time with the boy band TVXQ. Kim Jae-Joong also mentioned, "It's like a drama. Whether it's movies, variety shows, or commercials, all appearance fees are higher in Korea. Overall, it's about nine times higher than in Japan." Kim Jae-joong's statement immediately shocked everyone on the site, making all the other Japanese participants who watched the pre-recorded video in the studio say, "Is everyone here going to quit?" This remark made everyone burst into laughter. On the other hand, according to the latest chart announced by Japan's Oricon on the 2nd (Korean time), Kim Jae Joong's new album "Love Covers III", which was officially released in Japan on the 1st, topped the daily album ranking (31st October 2023). The clip from the show also sparked discussion in Korean online forums, with users from "the qoo" expressing doubts like, "Do Japanese artists still receive monthly salaries?", "Is Korea paying too much, or is Japan paying too little?", "Is all the money Japanese artists make taken by their management companies?" Some netizens were quite surprised, saying "I thought Japan would give more," "Since Japan makes everything, I thought they would give a lot," "Even the staff's income varies?" and "Is Japan's really this low?" Some netizens think it's reasonable "because Japan's economy is low-growth, so even the monthly salaries of ordinary people are low, right?", "Is it because Korea pays too high, so once athletes taste the flavor of variety shows, they can't go back to the sports field?", "So our country's celebrities even buy houses in cash", "So I heard that Japanese artists work like cows."
