12/3/2023 1 min read

This article isn't available in English yet, so it's shown in its original language

Instagram

Instagram

Instagram

Instagram

Instagram

Instagram

ADOR restrict NewJeans's Hanni from learning Korean?

The agency ADOR, which NewJeans belongs to, has issued a clarification regarding the rumors that the company has prevented Hanni, a Vietnamese-Australian member, from learning Korean. The agency ADOR released a lengthy statement on their official SNS, calling it "a statement regarding the protection of NewJeans members' private lives." ADOR states: "Recently, the topic discussed by Hanni in a live broadcast about the company not allowing Korean language study is completely untrue. Due to the excessive speculation and false rumors spreading online, we aim to clarify the company's stance by explaining the actual facts." ADOR continued to explain, "Regarding language education for the members, the company hires instructors and arranges educational sessions based on the individual needs of each member. Recently, we also conducted language education tailored to Hanni's needs, and the same applies to Korean language education. However, since the education system and basic privacy matters are very important to the individual, the company seeks consent from the members and their parents before proceeding with the educational tasks." On one hand, the affiliated company provided additional clarification: "The company has always done its utmost to support the members in every aspect necessary, and is determined to fulfill its responsibilities to the fullest. Therefore, we earnestly hope that the public refrains from indiscriminate speculation and overinterpretation regarding incidents related to the privacy of the members." As soon as the company's statement was released, it sparked discussions on Korean internet forums. Most netizens were not convinced by the contents of the statement, with many expressing, "What does learning a language have to do with privacy?" and "You can't possibly use the excuse that her imperfect pronunciation is endearing as a selling point." Some netizens pointed out: "Of course, initially, her non-standard pronunciation and her stuttering can seem cute, but if she could speak Korean well, everyone would grow even fonder of her." "I can't understand why she wouldn't actively learn Korean? Since she's living in Korea, wouldn't it be inconvenient if she doesn't speak the language?" However, as the controversy escalated, Hanni directly expressed through the fan communication platform, "It seems that some misunderstanding has arisen from a joke. The matter of learning Korean was something I mentioned to my manager a year ago. At the time, he responded very casually, so I also took it as a joke and shared the whole thing as something fun with my fans. But I am sorry for the misunderstanding it has caused." The apology letter from Hanni only served to further infuriate netizens, with comments like, "The company that claimed to protect member privacy now has members apologizing for this kind of thing?" and "Why does Hanni have to apologize?" It seems the company's statement has failed to quench the anger of fans and netizens.

NewJeans Hanni and Danielle criticized for showing disrespect to members

The popular girl group NewJeans consists of three Korean members Minji, Haerin, Hyein, and two Vietnamese-Australian and Korean-Australian members Hanni, Danielle. Therefore, most of the communication among the members is done in English or Korean. However, a recent post appeared on an online discussion board about NewJeans, captioned "honestly, I hope NewJeans members stop communicating in English." In the article, the author expressed that Minji, Hanni, and Danielle often communicate in English. While it is welcomed by foreign fans, it could generate a sense of alienation among their Korean fans. At the same time, the netizen also pointed out that in the recent NewJeans live broadcast, Hanni and Danielle were constantly speaking English unceasingly throughout the whole process, which agitated Hyein to the extent that she couldn't stand it and wanted to leave the scene. Therefore, netizens eventually suggested that the members should reduce their use of English communication and try to use Korean as much as possible during live broadcasts in Korea. However, this post has stirred polarizing reactions from netizens after it was uploaded. Other netizens who shared the same thoughts said, "There's really a sense of alienation. They know Korean, so why do they insist on communicating in English?", "Right! This is Korea", "I feel the same way, too! It's puzzling why they always speak in English", "Please show some respect to the Korean members appropriately". On the contrary, some netizens believe that "Speaking English can communicate with more international fans, there's nothing wrong with that", "If you feel uncomfortable watching NewJeans then don't watch it, moreover they use a lot of Korean as well", "Most of the people who watch live-streams are foreigners, what's the problem with speaking English?"

IVE's new song MV accused of plagiarizing NewJeans! The silly reason revealed makes the netizens explode: Who copied who?K-Pop

IVE's new song MV accused of plagiarizing NewJeans! The silly reason revealed makes the netizens explode: Who copied who?

On the 25th, popular girl group IVE revealed the music video for one of their comeback songs, "Either way," on their official channel. After the MV's release, netizens praised it for its favourable visuals. However, on the 27th, a discussion surfaced claiming that the content of the MV plagiarizes another girl group's, NewJeans, music video. On the 27th, a post causing heated discussions appeared on the online forum. The post, titled "IVE MV is very similar to NewJeans," was uploaded and attracted many netizens to join the never-ending debate. In the article, the netizen who wrote the post shared three scenes from IVE's new song "Either way" MV that are identical to those in the NewJeans' MV, and expressed that such similarities are unlikely to be a coincidence. Netizens pointed out three alleged plagiarism points. First, An Yu Jin's mischievous expression in front of the camera. Second, the members slowly emerging from the water. And third, the composition of each member's silhouette. Other netizens left comments in backlash, saying "Are you kidding me? The naughty expression has not only appeared in the NewJeans MV, but it has appeared countless times before" and "Wow! I'm speechless. It's obvious that the writer is a fan of NewJeans". "Scene of floating in the water had already been shot by aespa before the NewJeans MV, did NewJeans plagiarize aespa?" "Enough, stop stirring up the fans of IVE and NewJeans" "When it comes to the origin of mischievous expressions, it must be Rain Oppa XD". "At the same time, a minority of netizens expressed similar views, saying, 'when compared, they really look very similar', 'I really feel sorry for IVE, they actually plagiarized NewJeans' and other dissenting views." Editor: This netizen is too sensitive, isn't it? 😅😅
