Seo In-young (서인영), a member of first-generation K-pop girl group Jewelry, rose to fame with her captivating looks and fiery personality, earning her the nickname "Sexy Queen." Following her divorce from a non-celebrity businessman, she recently re-entered the public eye through her personal YouTube channel, "Seo In-young's New Beginning" (개과천선 서인영), where she shares daily life and candidly discusses her past experiences.
Seo In-young recently opened up about spending ₩10 billion (approximately NT$230 million) in the past. She revealed that during her peak, she spent around ₩200 million every month, which, despite her high income, eventually led to her running out of money and having an "empty wallet."
On September 9, Seo In-young released a video on her YouTube channel titled "Finally Sober, Singer Seo In-young Prepares a New Album After 10 Years." In the video, she met with (G)I-DLE member Jeon So-yeon (전소연) to discuss producing her new song, and the two also chatted about their respective music and life experiences.
Jeon So-yeon, who recently made a comeback with a solo album, admitted that she had prepared for the project for a very long time and "actually had a lot of fear." Seo In-young then shared her own experience, jokingly saying, "Whenever a song is released, don't you check the music charts first? If the group is doing well, you might be hit hard by just one ranking. What you really need to do in the end is mental management, because nothing ever goes exactly as you want it to." She then self-deprecatingly added, "Look at me, unnie. I never thought I'd go through so many ups and downs," which made Jeon So-yeon laugh.
Discussing her past hit songs, Seo In-young candidly shared her true feelings. She revealed that when "One More Time" was released, some people thought the song might fail. "Honestly, wasn't that dance really funny? I thought at the time, 'I could do something much cooler,' but it ended up being a huge success." She also admitted that she actually disliked "I Really Like You" (내가 널 사랑해) so much that she even considered opening a nail salon if the song failed. "Because I had to keep acting cute, I hated it."
As their conversation continued, Seo In-young suddenly brought up her financial issues, asking Jeon So-yeon, "Who handles the financial management in your family?" She then confessed, "My credit card was confiscated by my dad." Jeon So-yeon then mentioned a past report that Seo In-young had "spent all ₩10 billion earned during her heyday," and curiously asked if she had invested the money in a company or other businesses. Seo In-young immediately denied it, admitting, "No, I spent it all on shopping."
She revealed that even with income, she consistently spent ₩200 million every month. "Even if I earned money, it was like I hadn't earned anything, and I ended up with an empty wallet." Hearing about the monthly ₩200 million expenditure, Jeon So-yeon exclaimed, "Isn't it hard to spend ₩200 million in a month?" Seo In-young, however, countered, "Is it hard to spend ₩200 million?" which made everyone burst into laughter.

Jeon So-yeon also joked that she hoped to go shopping with Seo In-young in the future. "I'm the type who doesn't buy anything at all. Honestly, I don't even have anything I particularly want; at most, I just order takeout a bit extravagantly." Seo In-young then playfully teased, "It's strange, the two of us are completely different here. You and I don't get along."

Finally, Seo In-young revealed the true reason behind her lavish spending. She explained that she didn't start with high recognition, so she had the idea of "making a name for myself entirely through clothes." She believed that by spending money on her outfits, she could establish her own style and presence. She confessed, "Because I didn't have recognition at first, I had this idea of wanting to beat everyone with my clothes, and as a result, I spent all my money."
