Former BIGBANG member Lee Seung-hyun (이승현), 36, known as Seungri, recently made headlines with news he was about to become a father. Now, further details have emerged: Seungri himself revealed he is already legally married, and his wife is currently pregnant, with their child expected to arrive early next year. The initial news of the pregnancy, without an accompanying marriage announcement, led to speculation of an unmarried pregnancy. Seungri has since clarified, emphasizing that the couple has been legally wed for some time.
According to Korean media reports, Seungri disclosed on the 28th that his wife is pregnant and due to give birth early next year. The day before, Gray News had reported that he and a non-celebrity girlfriend in her 20s were expecting a new addition to their family, with the due date set for January next year and the baby confirmed to be a boy. At the time, the report also stated that the couple was preparing a new home in Seoul's Gangnam District and planned to hold a wedding after the child's birth. However, it has now been revealed that they had already completed their marriage registration.

With the news of the impending birth preceding any marriage announcement, there was speculation that the couple was not married. Seungri clarified that this was not the case, adding, "We are not currently considering holding a wedding." It is understood that the couple is currently focusing on the pregnancy and preparing for the arrival of their new baby.

In an earlier interview with Gray News, Seungri had spoken about responsibility, stating, "I have a family I need to protect." These words garnered attention at the time, and with the recent revelation of his marriage and impending fatherhood, the statement has resurfaced for discussion.

Seungri debuted as a member of BIGBANG in 2006, and the group achieved widespread fame across Asia, amassing a large fanbase. However, in 2019, he became embroiled in the "Burning Sun" scandal, which rocked the Korean entertainment industry. Identified as a central figure in the incident, he subsequently announced his departure from BIGBANG and completely withdrew from the entertainment industry.
Furthermore, Seungri was indicted on nine charges, including sexual assault, pimping, violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes, and habitual gambling. In May 2022, the Supreme Court of Korea sentenced him to 1 year and 6 months in prison. He was released in February 2023 after serving his sentence.
However, Seungri has recently faced new controversy. In August of this year, he was accused of special assault, special intimidation, and special confinement. Reportedly, the accuser claimed to have been assaulted and threatened by Seungri and his companions during a conflict at a restaurant in Seoul's Gangnam District. Seungri's side has denied these allegations, with his lawyer stating that while Seungri did pick up a soju bottle, he did not brandish it or attack anyone with it. Relevant materials have been submitted to the investigative authorities to clarify the facts. The case remains under investigation.
