YouTuber Park Wee (박위), husband of former Secret member Song Ji-eun (송지은), has recently become embroiled in a series of controversies. The issues began when Park Wee publicized CCTV footage of a fall he experienced while riding a KTX train, drawing public attention to the public service worker involved. This sparked a debate about the necessity of publicly disclosing an individual's mistake. Now, controversial remarks made during his brother's wedding speech have resurfaced, further escalating the ongoing storm.
The controversy originated from an incident involving Park Wee on a KTX train. According to Korean media reports, Park Wee was in his wheelchair, preparing to exit down a ramp, when the rear wheel of his wheelchair seemingly caught on the foot of a public service worker, causing him to fall forward. Park Wee later stated that the situation was precarious, and a severe fall could have resulted in serious injuries.
Park Wee, who boasts nearly 990,000 subscribers, subsequently uploaded the CCTV footage to his YouTube channel. However, after the video's release, observers noted that the accident did not appear to be intentional, and the public service worker involved had apologized to Park Wee multiple times at the scene. Consequently, some netizens criticized Park Wee's decision to publicize the footage, arguing that it could subject the worker to undue public pressure.

In 2014, Park Wee became paralyzed after falling from a building while intoxicated. He has since undergone continuous rehabilitation and shares his life, disability issues, and personal challenges through his YouTube channel, "WE RACLE." Given his significant social influence, the public release of the CCTV footage generated a more extensive discussion than typical incidents.
This wave of controversy has also brought Park Wee's past "brother's wedding speech controversy" back into the spotlight. In October 2024, during Park Wee and Song Ji-eun's wedding, Park Wee's brother delivered a speech recounting the family's journey after Park Wee's accident and expressing gratitude to Song Ji-eun. However, the speech included a private anecdote about a bathroom incident at the gym, which sparked heated discussion among netizens at the time.
Park Wee's brother revealed that on one occasion, while Park Wee and Song Ji-eun were exercising at the gym, Park Wee accidentally experienced incontinence, possibly due to overexertion. Park Wee, feeling a bit embarrassed, asked Song Ji-eun, "Ji-eun, do you smell something?" His brother then mimicked Song Ji-eun sniffing around the scene, laughing as he recounted her reply: "I think I do!"

However, his brother specifically noted that Song Ji-eun not only showed no disgust but calmly sought a solution, telling Park Wee, "Oppa, don't worry. I'll go get the wheelchair first. You get into the wheelchair, and I'll handle any problems." His brother expressed deep emotion upon hearing this, feeling that he could finally entrust his brother to his sister-in-law, even jokingly adding, "Now I'm sending him off to my sister-in-law, farewell~"
Furthermore, his brother also recalled Park Wee asking him, "When do you think 'disability' truly exists?" To which his brother replied, "It's a strong rope that binds a family tightly together. And my brother, with such a strong rope, has also tied my sister-in-law to us." He concluded by expressing gratitude to Song Ji-eun: "Thank you, sister-in-law, for becoming a part of our family."
While this speech was intended to express the family's gratitude to Song Ji-eun, some netizens felt that the remarks could portray Song Ji-eun as someone obligated to care for her husband, creating an impression that she assumed caregiving responsibilities upon marrying Park Wee. They argued that the wording should have been more cautious. Park Wee later removed the segment of his brother's speech from the video.
Now that Park Wee is once again embroiled in controversy, Song Ji-eun has unexpectedly been affected. Her Instagram comment section was flooded with negative remarks, forcing her to disable comments.
Song Ji-eun debuted in 2009 as a member of the girl group Secret, gaining popularity with songs like "Madonna" and "Love is Move." After the group's activities, she continued her career as a solo singer and actress.
However, whenever Park Wee faces controversy, some criticism extends to Song Ji-eun, with comments blaming her for choosing the marriage and demanding she "control her husband." These reactions are not directly related to the incidents themselves and could subject Song Ji-eun to unnecessary secondary harm.
Both Park Wee's method of publicizing the accident CCTV and his brother's past wedding speech content are legitimate subjects for public discussion and even criticism. However, when assigning responsibility, it is crucial to clearly distinguish between those directly involved in the incident and family members unrelated to the controversy, to prevent the situation from escalating further.
Park Wee's CCTV controversy has unexpectedly brought to light multiple layers of issues, ranging from wheelchair user traffic safety and the public responsibility of social media platforms to the boundaries of privacy at wedding events. As the incident continues to draw attention, the public hopes that discussions of the controversy will not extend harm to family members unrelated to the events.
