Less than half a year after their debut, Korean rookie girl group UNCHILD has halted activities. Their new song, originally scheduled for early September, was suddenly postponed, and no new comeback date has been announced. This, coupled with infrequent updates from the group and its members, has left fans increasingly anxious.
Amid widespread speculation, an anonymous netizen recently claimed to be an “industry insider,” alleging that UNCHILD's agency, High Up Entertainment, faces severe financial pressure. Rumors of company layoffs and the withdrawal of artist dormitories have further fueled fan concerns about the group's future. However, these claims have not yet been officially confirmed by the company.
UNCHILD was formed by High Up Entertainment and includes Na Ha-eun (羅夏恩), who previously gained attention for her exceptional dancing skills and was dubbed a “dance prodigy.” As early as December 2025, Na Ha-eun officially announced her debut as an idol, later confirming her addition to High Up's new girl group UNCHILD. As the junior group to High Up's popular girl group STAYC, UNCHILD garnered significant attention from K-pop fans even before their debut.
UNCHILD was originally scheduled to release their first comeback in September. High Up officially announced the group's September comeback in late July, followed by the gradual release of new content. On August 19, the company unveiled the logo video for their second digital single, “TiNG TiNG,” officially kicking off comeback promotions. The single was originally set for release on September 2 at 6 PM KST.
However, just days before the comeback, High Up suddenly announced a postponement on August 24. The agency stated that the release of “TiNG TiNG,” originally scheduled for September 2, had to be delayed due to “internal company factors.” High Up apologized to waiting fans and promised to announce a new date once confirmed.
Nevertheless, a considerable amount of time has passed since the original comeback date, and the company has yet to announce a new release date, making fans increasingly anxious.
Further unsettling fans, UNCHILD's recent official activities and member social media updates have significantly decreased, leading to online discussions about the group's prolonged silence. As the silence continued, an anonymous netizen claiming to work in the entertainment industry posted on X, alleging knowledge of High Up's internal situation and revealing that the company might be facing severe financial pressure.
The anonymous source claimed that High Up initially had investor support, but the investors withdrew their backing after reacting negatively to UNCHILD's new song and comeback teasers revealed during their activities. The source further alleged that High Up already had substantial debt, and even with STAYC and UNCHILD, it was insufficient to cover the funding gap, thus forcing the rookie girl group's comeback plans to be delayed.
Moreover, the anonymous leak claimed that the company's financial situation continued to worsen, to the point where it could no longer guarantee employee salaries, leading to numerous staff layoffs. Due to issues with both manpower and funds, even subsequent production and outsourcing work became difficult to carry out normally.
The leaked information even went on to suggest that UNCHILD's dormitory had allegedly been vacated, and members' individual management significantly reduced, leading the poster to state directly: “It really looks like they are preparing to disband.”
After these claims surfaced, they immediately sparked discussion among international fans. Many fans expressed deep concern after seeing the allegations, hoping the company would provide an explanation soon. Some fans exclaimed, “Please don't let it be true,” while others worried that the group, having debuted only a few months prior, might be unable to continue activities due to company management issues.
However, another group of netizens remains skeptical of these claims. Some fans pointed out that High Up has recently been recruiting personnel for various departments, questioning why the company would continue to hire if it were truly preparing to disband a rookie girl group.
Therefore, current online claims such as “High Up bankruptcy,” “mass layoffs,” “UNCHILD dormitory vacated,” and “preparing to disband” are all anonymous allegations and have not been officially confirmed by High Up.
What can be confirmed is that UNCHILD's “TiNG TiNG” was indeed suddenly postponed before its scheduled release, and High Up's public explanation only cited “internal company factors” without further detailing the specific reasons.
As no new comeback date for the song has been announced and the group's status remains largely unupdated for an extended period, fan anxiety continues to rise.
