Former South Korean girl group WJSN (우주소녀) member Luda (루다) recently shared candid details about her past dorm life with a large number of fellow members. From 13 people crammed into a single house to arguments over 'who drank my milk?', her revelations highlight that idol dorm life is often less glamorous than imagined.
On May 25, Luda appeared on a YouTube show to provide an update on her recent activities. She revealed that she has been very busy with work, filming both a drama and a movie. When asked if she had ever spent an extended period in China, she recalled an experience of holding a fan signing event in Qingdao, China.
Luda laughed as she recounted how the airport was 'paralyzed' when their group arrived. At the time, other members didn't believe her, even joking, "Don't lie, who do we think we are? The airport was probably just crowded!" However, they later realized that a massive crowd had indeed gathered at the airport due to WJSN's arrival. Luda chuckled, saying that even now, they proudly reminisce, "We once paralyzed an airport!"
Beyond amusing overseas anecdotes, Luda also openly discussed WJSN's past dorm life with all 13 members. She revealed that the 13 members lived in a house with three rooms, with the largest master bedroom accommodating six people. Although there were two bathrooms, a surprising issue persisted: "If someone used water in one bathroom, the other one wouldn't have any water."
The sheer number of people also led to various minor conflicts in daily life. Luda shared that members would occasionally argue over small things like, "Who drank my milk?" Some even went as far as to keep a mini-fridge in their room to protect their food.
However, despite 13 people being crammed together, Luda still remembers that period of her life as quite enjoyable, never feeling lonely. She stated, "There was always someone in the living room. If you wanted to watch a movie, at least one member would already be watching, so you'd just join them." For her, the dorm was always lively, and finding someone to chat with or do activities together was never a problem.
There was even a 'comedy competition' among the members. Luda laughed, explaining that since many members in the group were naturally funny, an unspoken competitive spirit gradually developed. She revealed that the harshest criticism among members wasn't an insult, but a direct remark: "You're not funny." If someone felt offended, others would retort, "Do you think you're funny?" which would make everyone burst into laughter.
While the 13-member dorm life was inevitably noisy and chaotic, Luda also shared that these days, always surrounded by company, became some of her most cherished memories after her debut.
WJSN was co-created by STARSHIP Entertainment and China's Yuehua Entertainment, officially debuting on February 25, 2016, with 12 members. Yeonjung (연정), a former member of I.O.I from Produce 101, later joined, making it a 13-member girl group. In 2018, three members—Xuanyi (宣儀), Cheng Xiao (程瀟), and Meiqi (美岐)—primarily focused on activities in China. They officially left the group after their contracts expired in 2023. WJSN currently continues activities with 10 members.
