Another heartwarming story about IU, revealed by a former girl group member!
2023-07-20
Former FIESTAR member and IU's fellow trainee, Hyemi, recently appeared on a YouTube channel program on the 18th and shared, "I'm currently running a business renting out practice rooms. The space is about 50 pyeong, and we also have a recording studio. Besides that, I rented another space to learn about interior design, but there are more factors to consider than I initially anticipated. The cost was around 100 million won, and my earnings are on par with a regular company employee."
Hyemi said, "IU and I were from the same company, and she even helped me with promotions. During our trainee days, I lived in a dormitory with IU, and it was a really pleasant experience. The dormitory was about 60 to 70 pyeong in size, with marble floors. At that time, IU was also a trainee, and we got along very well."
She continued, "IU didn't save her first paycheck. Instead, she used it to give gifts to those around her, and she even bought me a designer bag. She's a truly loyal friend. IU also gave expensive gifts to others. During our trainee days, we used to wear masks and go to Lotte World together to ride the rides."
Hyemi expressed her thoughts on the girl group FIESTAR, stating that it was a "pity." She said, "We were always busy with numerous activities, but unfortunately, we didn't receive proper compensation. We worked for about 5 years, and I understand that the company needs to surpass the break-even point before we can be paid off. Despite that, they treated me the best, providing me with things I needed for daily living and giving me pocket money every month."
She continued, "If only we could have bought stocks 10 years ago. There are many idols, and many friends who had low returns on their investments and never worked until their twenties, which is a bit unfortunate as they couldn't earn money. Although it's understandable, it's really a pity."
She said, "During the group activities, no matter how hard I tried, it felt like my efforts were not leading to success. Despite being in the industry for 10 years, it seems like I haven't achieved success. Feeling the judgmental gaze of people around me, thinking 'if she doesn't succeed, it's over,' made it very difficult to bear."
"I initially believed that hard work would bring good results, but as I look back on a significant portion of my life, I feel like I achieved nothing. After the group disbanded, I've been feeling uneasy and confused. If I dwell on thoughts like 'Why can't I succeed?' it becomes very negative. However, in the latter half of my 20s, I've come to think, 'It's alright not to be overly successful. Despite not earning much despite my efforts, I have learned a lot.' I want to continue working hard in life, and if the opportunity arises, I will definitely give it my all."
