Recently, the new film "Cement Utopia," starring actors Park Seo-Joon and Park Bo-Young, premiered. Park Seo-Joon also accepted interviews from the Korean media to promote the new film and openly shared his recent reluctance to shoot romantic comedies.
Park Seo Joon became the god of romantic comedies through dramas like "Witch's Romance", "She Was Pretty", "Fight for My Way", and "What's Wrong with Secretary Kim", but in recent years, he has rarely participated in romantic comedies, continuously shooting other genres of works. Fans who love Park Seo Joon's romantic comedies might feel a bit regretful about this.
During an interview, Park Seo-jun mentioned the changes in his recent works, admitting that he wants to work on different types of projects: "Because I've been frequently appearing in romantic comedies before, I wanted to try other genres. I've been doing that recently, and although it’s different from romantic comedies, I wanted to bring change and didn't want to miss the pleasure of working on those kinds of projects."
Then Park Seo-jun added, "After 'What's Wrong with Secretary Kim', I started challenging these roles, and it seems like I haven't chosen a romantic comedy since then. I want to continue this way in the future."
But Park Seo-jun also emphasized: "Of course, I like romantic comedies, I think it's a difficult topic, it's not that I don't want to do it, but I want to do other things."
Park Seo-jun also said, "The same goes for the movie 'Concrete Utopia' and the Netflix series 'Gyeongseong Creature' is another kind of subject. I don't know what works will come up next, but I should choose interesting ones. Having said that, if I come across a good romantic comedy, I will definitely take it." He left a possibility to take on a romantic comedy.
Additionally, Park Seo-Joon's recent return to the big screen with the film "Concrete Utopia" is a disaster movie. It tells the story of survivors gathering at the Imperial Palace Apartment in Seoul, which has become ruins due to a massive earthquake.
