Celebrity Song Ji-hyo was previously owed 900 million in wages by her former agency Uzu Rocks. Not only did she not receive a proper settlement, the agency repeatedly bounced checks. Despite promising to transfer the funds, Uzu Rocks in the end let Song Ji-hyo down, pushing her to her limit and leading her to file a lawsuit in anger.
Despite the former management company's repeated promises to fully pay the salary by May of the first half of the year, it was unexpected that they still failed to make payments, leaving many netizens stunned. Today (14th), Korean media SPORTSEOUL reported that Song Ji-hyo's former company seemed to have secretly moved out of the office and disappeared from sight.
According to a report from the Korean media outlet SPORTSEOUL, talent agency Uzu Rocks not only failed to pay 900 million won in wages but also left some of its internal staff members without any salary. Eventually, actress Song Ji-hyo intervened to address the issue, earning the appreciation of netizens. However, some media outlets have discovered that Uzu Rocks appears to be quietly relocating from its original office.
Korean media have revealed that Uzu Rocks will be leaving their office in New Sadoong, Seoul. According to a former Uzu Rocks employee, the electricity and water bills at the office in Gangnam's New Sadoong have not been paid. The office is now vacant.
Regarding this, an insider suggested: "It seems that the landlord requested a move-out, so we might leave the Shin Sa-dong office soon." In addition, Mr. Kim, who is currently in charge of communicating with the media for Uzu Rocks, reported the company to the Labor Department for wage arrears.
Korean media speculated that if Uzu Rocks goes out of business, celebrities like Song Ji-hyo, Ji Suk-jin, actor Kim Man-seok, singer Lee Sang-won etc may not be able to receive their unpaid appearance fees.
After the news of Uzu Rocks being emptied out was exposed, the public has been fairly concerned about whether more artists will suffer. In fact, there were many issues within Uzu Rocks, including lawsuits for not paying severance pay, and suspicions of specific economic crimes such as corruption.
