The Korean entertainment industry is embroiled in another controversy. Actor Ahn Yong-jun (안용준), who appeared in the K-drama “Jumong” (주몽), has recently been accused of investment fraud and forging private documents, with alleged losses amounting to ₩490 million (approximately NT$11 million). The accuser claims Ahn Yong-jun solicited investments for performances, fan meetings, and album production, and even allegedly forged contracts, signatures, and seals of famous actors. The revelations have garnered significant attention.
According to an October 21 report by Korean media outlet Hankook Ilbo, complainant 'A' filed a report with the Busan Haeundae Police Station that day, accusing Ahn Yong-jun of fraud, forging private documents, using forged private documents, and forging signatures.
Sources indicate that 'A' and Ahn Yong-jun have known each other for many years. 'A' previously translated performance contracts for Ahn Yong-jun and later invested in business projects he proposed. However, problems subsequently arose, leading to a dispute between the two.
'A' claims that Ahn Yong-jun presented exclusive contracts bearing the names of famous actors and solicited investments for performances, fan meetings, and album production, promising to share profits. However, 'A' alleges that the names, signatures, and seals on these contracts were forged.
Furthermore, 'A' also claims that Ahn Yong-jun stated he had signed contracts with major agencies and album producers, but no such contracts actually existed. Invoices presented by Ahn Yong-jun as proof of funds for repayment are also alleged to be forged documents.
'A' asserts that the total amount of losses involved in the incident is approximately ₩490 million (approximately NT$11 million). However, this amount does not solely represent direct investment funds 'A' handed to Ahn Yong-jun; it also includes funds 'A' claims to be pursued for by third parties. Therefore, the entire sum cannot be considered direct investment from 'A' to Ahn Yong-jun.
Lawyer Shim, representing 'A', stated that it is possible other individuals may also have been victimized and urged the police to investigate further for additional victims. In addition to filing a criminal complaint, 'A' has also initiated a civil lawsuit for damages and applied for provisional attachment of assets to protect their rights.
Notably, Ahn Yong-jun's former agency has also responded. According to reports, his exclusive contract with his former agency, Creamate Media, has now expired. An anonymous source from the former agency told Hankook Ilbo in a phone interview, "I am also a victim, and I will be filing a complaint soon."
Ahn Yong-jun was previously a short track speed skater, ending his athletic career in middle school before entering the entertainment industry in 2006. He gained attention for his role as Jumong's son in the K-drama “Jumong” and later appeared in works such as “Rounding Off 3,” “God's Quiz,” “Capital Scandal,” and “Jeon Woo-chi.”
Currently, these remain allegations made by the complainant. The actual facts of the case, the extent of involvement, and legal liabilities are still subject to further police investigation and clarification.
