Girls' Generation member Tiffany Young and actor Byun Yo-han (변요한) met while working on the Disney+ K-drama “Uncle Samsik,” with their relationship evolving from colleagues to lovers. The couple officially registered their marriage in February this year. Byun recently spoke for the first time about the catalyst for their marriage, revealing that while he always protected his partners during dates, Tiffany was the first person who made him feel protected. He also shared how she bravely encouraged him to travel abroad, despite his fear of flying and a decade-long hiatus from international travel, which sparked an unprecedented feeling of excitement in him.
On the 3rd, YouTube channel “Choo Sung Hoon” released its latest video, featuring Byun alongside Japanese model Yano Shiho. The video was titled “Yano Shiho, Tiffany, please pay attention (ft. Byun Yo-han and Choo Sung-hoon, who look incredibly alike).” During the program, Byun also shared how he got into combat sports.
When asked why he came to the gym, Byun revealed that he had practiced Taekwondo from elementary school through high school and maintained an exercise routine even after starting his acting career. However, due to health issues, he took a two-year break. “During that break, I could barely leave the house. I kept thinking, what fun things could I do then? What else could I do to challenge myself?” Byun stated that he eventually returned to his most basic thought: “I wanted to get hit, that’s why I came to the gym, not because I wanted to hit someone.”
Choo Sung-hoon (추성훈) couldn't help but laugh and ask, “Are there really people like that?” He then pressed further, “So, is that why you’re here today?” Byun smiled and replied, “I came to see you, hyung,” drawing laughter from everyone present.
Choo then curiously asked him, “How long have you been married?” Byun revealed that he got married in February this year, and that they had dated for about a year and a half.
The production team further inquired about the catalyst for their marriage, and Byun shared the story behind their union for the first time. He confessed, “This is the first time I’m saying this. When I used to date, I always thought about protecting my partner, but I met a woman for the first time who would protect me, give me courage, and help me overcome difficulties.”

Byun disclosed that due to his poor health, he hadn't traveled abroad by plane for about 10 years. “Because I was afraid of flying, I always started by trying shorter distances gradually.” Even so, he never considered challenging himself to travel further.
Until Tiffany appeared. “It was the first time someone bought me a plane ticket and told me, ‘Trust yourself, and follow me,’ and even booked me the best seat.” Byun recalled the scene, stating that the first thought that came to his mind upon reaching their destination was: “What’s happening? What is this feeling?” He admitted that he had been acting for many years and was no longer young, yet at that moment, he felt an unprecedented fresh emotion. “I felt a completely new kind of affection.”

Discussing married life, Choo asked him, “How do you feel now?” Byun smiled and revealed, “Now I always remind myself to stay calm; it’s truly wonderful. I want to love for a long time, so I need to conserve my energy.”

These few words reveal his deep affection for his wife, Tiffany, and offer the public a glimpse into a different side of their marriage. Byun, who once protected others, now has someone who is willing to be his pillar of strength.
