South Korean rookie boy group CHASER (체이서), who debuted in February with their mini-album “ROUTE 01 : BURNING POINT,” is embroiled in controversy after member Ren (렌) made remarks during fan interactions. His recent replies on a paid fan platform were criticized as rude, sparking outrage among netizens. The head of their agency, HOWLING ENTERTAINMENT, had previously issued a personal apology. Now, the company has announced further disciplinary action, suspending Ren from using certain fan services, a decision that has generated significant discussion.
The controversy originated from a conversation Ren had on a paid fan platform. A fan commented, “I’ve been waiting,” to which Ren reportedly responded impatiently, “Ah, so what do you want? Why do you keep telling me to do this and that? It’s really annoying.” These remarks quickly garnered attention. Many netizens felt that even if he was annoyed by fan comments, he should not have responded in such a harsh tone, criticizing his attitude as unbecoming of an idol.
As the controversy escalated, the head of the agency personally apologized on the 12th, pledging to more carefully review artists’ words and actions, improve communication with fans, and strengthen relevant education and management to prevent similar incidents from recurring.
However, the storm has not yet subsided. HOWLING ENTERTAINMENT recently issued another official announcement, stating that Ren’s access to social media platforms, the fan messaging service PLUS CHAT, and the Fandol service would be temporarily suspended.
The agency clarified that this measure does not mean Ren will cease all activities, but rather that they hope he uses this time to prepare and return to fans with an improved image. Regarding when these services will be restored, the company stated that a separate announcement would be made later and asked for fans’ understanding of the decision.

After the news broke, netizen reactions were mixed. Some praised the company’s swift handling, commenting, “Goodbye!” and “The company reacted really fast this time.” However, others were confused by the decision to suspend services, questioning, “Is it necessary to make such a big deal?” and “Wait, so why exactly?” From Ren’s controversial fan interaction to the agency’s repeated interventions, this incident continues to draw public attention to its ongoing developments.
