Chungha Addresses Facial Changes: "My Friends Even Asked if I Had Jaw Surgery"

South Korean solo artist Kim Chungha (김청하) first gained recognition in 2016 as a contestant on the first season of Mnet's survival show Produce 101, ultimately debuting with the project girl group I.O.I. After the group's activities concluded, she transitioned to a successful solo career, rising to fame with hit singles like "Roller Coaster" and "Gotta Go." Her impressive achievements earned her the moniker "Miracle of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises."

Chungha recently discussed changes in her appearance over the years, admitting her face shape has indeed changed. She revealed that even close friends suspected she might have undergone jaw reduction surgery. However, she clarified that the primary reason is simply the loss of her "baby fat."

On May 2, Chungha appeared as a guest on KBS Cool FM's Gabee's Super Radio, where she openly shared updates on her life. Discussing officially entering her 30s this year, she laughed, saying, "I don't know what the feeling of a 'mature woman' is, but maybe I'm overthinking it. People online keep saying 'Chungha is already in her 30s,' and sometimes I even see comments like 'Chungha is already in her 30s?' I actually really hope people mistake me for being in my 20s."

In response, host Gabee (가비) commented that Chungha's current mature aura suits her well. Chungha chuckled, replying, "It seems I have matured."

Addressing Chungha's noticeably different vibe recently, Gabee also observed a change in her facial contours. "How should I put it? Your face looks calmer, and the atmosphere you exude has become more peaceful," Gabee noted. Chungha candidly explained, "It might be because a lot of my baby fat has disappeared. Seriously, my friends even ask if I went for jaw reduction surgery. Even I feel like it has really reduced a lot." Gabee added, "Your facial contours really do look different."

Regarding public discussions about her entering her 30s, Chungha stated that she doesn't pay much attention to it. "I don't really mind it that much; I just feel that people seem to view my 30s in a very positive light, and I'm truly grateful for that."

This year, Chungha also participated in the I.O.I reunion activities. On May 1, she made her official comeback to the music scene with the new digital single "México," resuming her musical endeavors.
