Park Na-rae's Former Manager Arrested for Alleged Extortion, Embezzlement

泡菜鄉民7/21/2026149 views 1 min read

Popular South Korean host Park Na-rae (박나래) has reportedly been extorted by an associate. According to an exclusive report by Korean media outlet MBC, the Seoul Yongsan Police Station formally arrested and detained Park Na-rae's former manager, identified only as Shin, on June 16 on charges including attempted extortion.

Police stated that Shin allegedly threatened Park Na-rae, demanding a large sum of money or he would expose claims that she had misappropriated company funds for personal use, providing them to a former boyfriend and others. Shin reportedly demanded 10% of Park Na-rae's company's 2024 revenue, attempting to extort a substantial amount with these alleged false accusations.

Furthermore, police investigations revealed that Shin is suspected of embezzling approximately 30 million Korean won (about $21,700 USD) in company funds. The related criminal acts are currently under further investigation.

Police added that another former manager is also involved in the case and is expected to be transferred to the prosecution for investigation today along with Shin.

1. Yes, both sides have issues. But didn't everyone forget that when the manager was first questioned, they immediately jumped out and said, 'It's all fake,' and then a bunch of people only believed the manager and furiously cursed Park Na-rae? Now they're changing their tune to 'both sides have issues.' Hilarious.
2. Why do people keep fantasizing that she won't be able to make a comeback because of this? Things always need to be resolved before returning. The legal process is a mess right now; once things settle down, she'll naturally resume activities.
3. Even Ju Ji-hoon (주지훈) is active as usual. She'll make her own comeback after this minor issue.

4. Aren't Park Na-rae, the manager, and that 'injection auntie' all women? Why are people starting to talk about 'being especially strict on women' again?
5. Oh my, they were actually detained.
6. 10% of Park Na-rae's company revenue? Isn't that hundreds of millions of won? That's practically a bandit. When the extortion failed, they started exposing her private life and workplace bullying (though whether the bullying is true or false is still unknown), almost destroying an artist. In contrast, male celebrities who do drugs, drink and drive, have bad personalities, are known throughout the film industry for their poor reputations, and even get women pregnant out of wedlock and then abort the baby, are still active. Why are people so strict on women?

7. After Park Na-rae left 'I Live Alone,' I found it uninteresting and stopped watching.
8. Huh? So it was fake?
9. Demanding 10% of company revenue is almost like taking all of the company's profits.

10. If the workplace bullying is true, then she shouldn't make a comeback; if things like asking a young female manager to pick up obstetrics and gynecology prescriptions are false, then she should return.
11. It's not 10% of profit, it's 10% of revenue. This is outright robbery, isn't it?
12. It's clearly an issue between women, so why are some people still trying to make it about gender conflict? What are they thinking? Can they even think normally?

13. Oh my, they've been detained, which means there must be some evidence for those criminal suspicions. It's terrifying how they kept pretending to be victims before.
14. If they had just paid proper salaries and provided the four major insurances for employees from the start, things wouldn't have come to this.
15. It seems like birds of a feather flock together; they're all from the same crowd.

16. She used to make overly inappropriate jokes at drinking parties, so I never watched her. Although she always cultivated an image of taking care of those around her, she wasn't an irreplaceable character. 'I Live Alone' is actually better now.
17. If she can make a comeback, then she should. But 'I Live Alone' is really good now. (Kim Shin-young (김신영) doesn't drink, so it's much more comfortable to watch.)
18. Sigh, so the whole thing started with the manager. Na-rae, you really need to choose your managers carefully in the future.

19. If both sides are at fault, they should each take responsibility for their actions.
20. She'll naturally make a comeback after a while. Even if she can't be on TV, she can at least do YouTube.
21. Since Park Na-rae and Key (키) stopped appearing, 'I Live Alone' has had much less drinking content, which I actually prefer.

22. I don't know about other shows, but whether Park Na-rae is on 'I Live Alone' or not, I don't think it makes much difference.
23. I think the current cast of 'I Live Alone' is great and comfortable to watch.
24. Wasn't she in trouble because she didn't provide the four major insurances for employees, engaged in long-term workplace bullying, and had illegal medical practices? Is only the bullying a rumor?

25. The real reason she can't be active should be the 'injection auntie' incident, right? Many celebrities have been exposed for bullying. If she wants to make a comeback, resolving the 'injection auntie' issue is more important.
26. So what happened with the 'injection auntie' incident?
27. So the incident was exposed because the extortion failed? Does that mean the part about the boyfriend is false information?

28. I hope Park Na-rae can make a comeback soon.
29. If the so-called 'false accusations' refer to her using company funds for her boyfriend's private use, then that means this matter is completely false. And yet, the manager himself is suspected of embezzling public funds.
30. I don't know much about this incident, so were three managers extorting her together? Or did all three embezzle public funds? Or is only Shin suspected of embezzlement, and the others only participated in the extortion?

31. I always thought Park Na-rae was at most a bit careless, but that manager always seemed strange from beginning to end, so I never sided with him. It turns out I was right.
32. 10% of revenue? That's practically a bandit, hahaha.
33. So, things like Park Na-rae throwing a glass at someone, her boyfriend's salary, and the 'injection auntie' are true, and the manager used these as leverage to threaten to expose them for extortion? Is that why so many photos were taken before?

34. Didn't Park Na-rae initially poach that employee and promise him 30% of the company's revenue, asking him to work with her? Haha.
35. Constantly leaking information through the media looks really malicious. It turns out they really were extortionists.
36. Honestly, they dared to do this because they thought Park Na-rae was easy to bully, but they ended up getting caught. Would they dare to do this to Choo Sung-hoon (추성훈)? Haha.

37. Park Na-rae should make a comeback soon too; many male celebrities are still active.
38. I already thought that manager was strange.
39. However, the show is indeed better after she stopped appearing, and hasn't the 'injection auntie' incident also not been resolved?
