Korean actor Ji Chang-wook (지창욱) recently revealed he once maintained a private, unlisted Instagram account. This secondary account was exclusively for sharing photos he would not typically post on his official page. His candid explanation for creating the account, and why he ultimately deleted it, drew laughter from those present.
On September 17, Netflix Korea released a promotional video on its YouTube channel for the new series Scandal, starring Son Ye-jin (손예진), Ji Chang-wook, and Nana (나나). During a discussion about Son Ye-jin having a secondary Instagram account, Ji Chang-wook shared his own experience, admitting he also once had a similar account.
Ji Chang-wook chuckled as he recounted, "There was a period when I had that experience too. Everyone uses social media so much these days, and sometimes you just suddenly want to show off a little." He explained that he would occasionally buy expensive or particularly nice items, but felt it would be too ostentatious to post them directly on his official Instagram. So, he created a private account specifically "to show off a little," keeping all those photos in a place only he could see.
He elaborated, "For example, if I bought a new car, I rarely take special photos of it, but I once took a picture of the steering wheel and uploaded it. Or a photo of myself wearing a watch. These kinds of pictures would go on the private account, just for my own satisfaction."
Yoo Byung-jae (유병재), who was listening nearby, couldn't help but ask, "So what was it like? Like someone going to the mountains and shouting 'Yahoo!'?" Ji Chang-wook laughed and replied, "Yes, exactly that feeling."
However, after maintaining the account for some time, he slowly realized a problem: if no one saw it, it couldn't truly be considered "showing off." Ji Chang-wook confessed, "Later, I realized that for something to feel like showing off, someone needs to see it. But no one was seeing it, so I eventually stopped updating that account."
Yoo Byung-jae then joked, "If you say that, your fans will definitely start looking for it!" Unexpectedly, Ji Chang-wook immediately dampened their curiosity, stating, "You can't find it now; I deleted it."
This means Ji Chang-wook's mysterious private Instagram account is now long gone. Fans hoping to 'archaeologize' based on his revelation will likely be out of luck, left only to imagine the luxury cars and watches he once secretly posted on his hidden page.
