Yoon Dae-yeol (윤대열), the 48-year-old Korean actor known for his roles in films such as *The Outlaws* and *12.12: The Day*, has been lauded as a “righteous person” for his swift response to a recent gas explosion in Incheon, which successfully prevented the disaster from escalating. However, instead of focusing on his heroic actions, Yoon prioritized the injured and the victims’ families, even expressing profound apology and shame for the unexpected media attention.

Instagram

On May 28, Yoon posted on social media, revealing details about the gas explosion that occurred the previous day. The incident left a restaurant owner severely injured and three construction workers wounded. He explained that other citizens had already arrived at the scene, assisting the injured, directing traffic, and notifying police. Yoon stated his only concern was the potential for a secondary disaster, which prompted him to shut off the gas cylinder valve located behind the building.

Yoon emphasized, “The most important thing right now is the injured, those who suffered losses, and the grieving families of the victims.” Regarding his unexpected appearance in the news, Yoon confessed, “I am truly sorry and feel very ashamed. I even worry that my presence might detract from the real focus this accident deserves.”

Yoon further stated that the accident remains unresolved, and no one has fully recovered. He sincerely hoped for the swift physical and mental recovery of all injured individuals, victims, and their families, reiterating his apology for the media attention he received.

According to the Incheon Seobu Police Station and other authorities, the accident occurred around 8:45 a.m. on May 27, near the first floor of a commercial building in Majeon-dong, Geomdan-gu, Incheon. During the demolition of interior facilities in a closed store, a liquefied petroleum gas explosion took place, injuring four workers: three men and one woman, all in their 60s. They sustained first- and second-degree burns to their faces and other body parts and were transported to the hospital by paramedics.

At the time of the incident, Yoon, who was taking a walk nearby, heard the sudden explosion. He immediately rushed to the scene and discovered that the gas valve outside the store was open. He promptly closed it himself, helping to prevent the accident from escalating further.

A police official stated that Yoon’s proactive actions are believed to have prevented the incident from turning into a larger fire. Authorities are currently considering commending him for his courageous behavior.

Yoon debuted in 2007 with the stage play *Audience Insult* and later made his big-screen debut in the film *Kundo: Age of the Rampant*. Over the years, he has appeared in numerous works, including *The Outlaws*, *Smugglers*, and *12.12: The Day*, maintaining an active career in the entertainment industry. His actions at the accident scene unexpectedly revealed a side of him beyond his on-screen persona, yet his consistent prioritization of the victims has shown many his humble and warm-hearted nature.
