A Single Phrase, "If Legally Possible," Ignites Controversy

Go Young-wook previously wrote on July 12th: "I just want to live happily and make people laugh. It seems hard to find work in Korea." He then added: "I think I saw somewhere that Japan lacks male adult film actors. If it's legally possible." This statement immediately sparked controversy.

On the 14th, Go Young-wook shared a screenshot of a related news report on his social media account, accompanied by the brief message: "Please stop..." The report explained that his recent remarks about becoming a Japanese adult film actor were not an announcement of actual plans, but rather a joking expression of his frustration and helplessness with reality.

Comeback Road Repeatedly Hampered by Criminal Record

Although the relevant explanations suggest that Go Young-wook's remarks were self-deprecating about his stalled comeback, rather than an actual intention to enter the Japanese adult film industry, criticism has not easily subsided.

In 2013, Go Young-wook was sentenced to 2 years and 6 months in prison for sex crimes against minors; the court also ordered the public disclosure of his personal information for 5 years and 3 years of electronic tagging.

After his release from prison, he attempted to resume activities by opening a YouTube channel, but public criticism of his criminal record repeatedly hindered his comeback. Earlier this year, he also posted about his financial difficulties, including "What am I supposed to do in a world that completely rejects me?" and "Is there no way to even earn enough money for dog food?"
