Deceased Director Heo Beom-wook's 'The Pig with Foot-and-Mouth Disease': A Decade in the Making, Praised at 35 Film Festivals
The Korea Times reports that the late director Heo Beom-wook's (허범욱) final feature-length animated film, 'The Pig with Foot-and-Mouth Disease,' is set to be released on October 21. Director Heo tragically passed away at the age of 43 in an unforeseen accident on July 28. The film was originally scheduled for an August 5 release but was postponed following his death.
This film, which took over 10 years to complete using motion capture technology, features voice actor Nam Dohyeong (남도형) and actor Han Woojin (한우진) performing 30 different roles, adding intense realism. 'The Pig with Foot-and-Mouth Disease' explores the dark truths of violence and humanity by paralleling the stories of 'H,' a pig who survives a mass burial pit during a disease outbreak, drinks the farmer's blood, and attempts to become human, and 'Jeongseok' (정석), a deserter who, abused by his superior, rejects his humanity and chooses to become an animal.

Even before its release, master animator Yeon Sang-ho (연상호) expressed his condolences in an interview with The Korea Times, stating, "I hope people discover his true artistic value through Director Heo's film." The work has received critical acclaim at 35 international film festivals, including the Annecy International Animation Film Festival and the Sitges Film Festival, and was recognized for its artistic merit by winning the Best Feature Film award at the 50th Seoul Independent Film Festival.

According to Soompi, CNBLUE's Jung Yong-hwa (정용화) and Hong Seung-hee (홍승희) are starring in the new Romance drama 'Oh! My Guard,' which has released its first episode preview and is set to premiere on October 24 at 10:50 PM (KST). The drama tells the unpredictable Romance story of Uhm Tae-bong (엄태봉), an A-list actor with a fatal flaw (played by Jung Yong-hwa), and Oh Hae-ra (오해라), a mysterious woman (played by Hong Seung-hee) who believes she is the female lead, 'Cha Hong-doo' (차홍두), from his drama.

The preview shows top star Uhm Tae-bong, known as a master of Romance dramas, halting filming right before a kiss scene with co-star Song Na-ri (송나리, played by Park Yu-na 박유나). The director is frustrated, asking, "Why can't you shoot a good scene?" while his manager suspiciously questions, "Have you really never kissed anyone?" Meanwhile, chaebol (conglomerate) heiress Oh Hae-ra lives alone in a quiet mansion, finding her sole joy in watching the drama 'The Prince's Bodyguard,' starring Uhm Tae-bong. As "the chairman's daughter who has fallen out of favor," she imagines herself as the female lead while watching the drama, wishing, "I hope something happens to me too."
When news breaks that Uhm Tae-bong has been injured during filming, Oh Hae-ra thinks, "If not now, I might never see him again," and rushes out of the mansion, only to get into an accident. Afterward, she comes to believe that she is Cha Hong-doo, the female lead from her favorite drama 'The Prince's Bodyguard,' and that the real-life Uhm Tae-bong is Han Jeong-woo (한정우), the male lead, drastically changing their destinies.
