BLACKPINK's Jennie Reveals Dating Dealbreakers: 'Ugly Shoes' and Unanswered Texts
BLACKPINK member Jennie (김제니) recently appeared on American magazine Cosmopolitan's YouTube channel for its 'Blind Date' segment. Alongside editor-in-chief Willah Bennett, Jennie openly discussed various relationship topics, from choosing a date and communication methods to potential first-date turn-offs. Her straightforward and humorous dating insights have sparked considerable discussion.
When asked to choose between dating 'an obsessive fan' or 'someone who has never heard her music,' Jennie unhesitatingly picked the latter. She also revealed that she prefers relationships that develop slowly from friendship rather than 'love at first sight.'
Jennie explained, "I think starting as friends creates something special." For her, building a foundation of familiarity and trust is more appealing than an immediate spark.
What's the biggest 'red flag' that would instantly turn her off on a first date? Without much thought, Jennie immediately replied, "Ugly shoes." Her unexpected answer drew laughter from the set, with netizens commenting that it was a very 'Jennie' response.
However, her stance became much firmer when discussing 'communication methods.' The host posed a scenario: "What if your date keeps updating their Facebook status but takes hours to reply to your messages?" Jennie reacted with surprise, stating, "No, that's a red flag."
She continued, "Updating Facebook status while not replying to messages? That's completely wrong." She emphasized, "We should get respect and love from men."
As for whether she would send another message if a reply was delayed — a 'double text' — Jennie laughed, revealing, "I don't even send the first message." She added that sending two consecutive messages would be a "very big move" for her, reserved only for emergencies. "Otherwise, I wouldn't do that," she said.
