Go Young-wook (고영욱), a former member of the group Roo'Ra (룰라) who was previously imprisoned and banned from the entertainment industry for sexually assaulting and coercing minors, has recently been actively commenting on entertainment figures via social media. After controversially naming several artists, he has now turned his attention to actress Kim Sa-rang (김사랑).
On the first of the month, Go Young-wook shared a news article about Kim Sa-rang's recent activities on his personal social media account and abruptly commented on her appearance. He wrote, "We are from the same generation. I used to like her because her looks weren't too striking." However, after seeing Kim Sa-rang again after many years, he changed his tone, stating, "I haven't seen her in a long time, and now her cheeks look like they're about to burst."
He continued, "Is the trend nowadays plump cheeks, or being so thin that only bones are left?" He concluded with, "Women are truly..." His remarks quickly sparked discussion, with many netizens questioning why he would comment on a female artist's appearance without provocation.
Kim Sa-rang, 48, recently shared updates from her trip to New York on social media, showcasing her striking beauty and slender physique. In the photos, she is seen enjoying pizza at an outdoor table on a New York street, wearing a black off-the-shoulder outfit that elegantly reveals her shoulder and neck lines. The images, with her holding a slice of pizza, resemble a fashion magazine photoshoot rather than a casual meal.
After the photos were released, netizens flooded the comments with exclamations: "Is it necessary to dress like this to eat pizza?" "Eating pizza outdoors looks like a photoshoot," "Is she really 48?" "Her aura is truly unique," "She fits New York perfectly," "Why does just holding a slice of pizza look like a movie scene?" Kim Sa-rang's ageless beauty once again became a hot topic.
Kim Sa-rang gained recognition in 2000 after winning Miss Korea. She subsequently entered the entertainment industry, becoming one of Korea's most iconic beautiful actresses thanks to her striking looks and tall stature. She has appeared in numerous dramas, including A Thousand Years of Love, A Love to Kill, Secret Garden, and My Love Eun-dong. Although she has released fewer acting projects in recent years, her ageless beauty continues to draw attention. In 2025, she is set to host the seventh season of SNL Korea, marking her return to variety shows after many years.
In fact, Go Young-wook has recently been frequently naming celebrities on social media and making critical remarks, which has previously caused considerable controversy. Now, Kim Sa-rang has also become a target of his comments.
Go Young-wook debuted in 1994 as a member of Roo'Ra and was a well-known entertainer in the Korean entertainment industry. However, between 2010 and 2012, he was indicted by prosecutors for multiple cases of sexual assault and forced indecency involving minors. In 2013, the Supreme Court of Korea sentenced him to two years and six months in prison.
Additionally, he was sentenced to five years of personal information disclosure and three years of electronic ankle monitor surveillance, making him the first entertainer in the Korean entertainment industry to be fitted with an electronic ankle monitor. His entertainment career was subsequently halted.
In recent years, Go Young-wook has become active again on social media, even opening a YouTube channel to try and interact with the public, but it was eventually shut down due to a large volume of negative comments and reports. He continues to post on social media and has repeatedly faced criticism for his controversial remarks.
