Actress Maria Kano's Agency Apologizes After Reports of Private Meeting with Co-star
Japanese actress Maria Kano recently made headlines after a weekly magazine reported she had a private meeting with her "Crash Landing on You" stage play co-star, Ryoki Miyama. Her agency released an official statement on July 22, apologizing to those involved and her supporters, and confirming that after speaking with Kano, she did indeed spend time alone with one of her co-stars.

Agency Admits to Private Meeting, Emphasizes Strict Warning
According to ModelPress, Maria Kano's agency stated in their announcement that they deeply apologize for causing concern and trouble to all involved parties and her long-time supporters due to the report published in a weekly magazine.
“Regarding the content of the report, after confirming the facts with her, she did indeed spend time alone with a co-star. The purpose was to deepen her understanding of the stage play character, but it is also a fact that she ultimately made an inappropriate judgment. She takes this matter very seriously and deeply reflects on her lack of awareness and poor judgment. Our company also takes this matter very seriously and has issued a strict warning, demanding that she act responsibly in the future.”

The statement concluded by reiterating that the agency sincerely recognizes the gravity of the situation and deeply apologizes for causing significant concern and inconvenience.
Weekly Bunshun Report Sparks Concern; Male Co-star is Married with a Child
This controversy began with a report from Weekly Bunshun, alleging that Maria Kano and Ryoki Miyama had private meetings while collaborating on the stage play version of "Crash Landing on You." The report garnered significant attention because both are married, and Ryoki Miyama is also expecting his first child with actress Shuri in 2025.

The original article also noted that after the report surfaced, this controversy quickly became one of the most talked-about topics in the Japanese entertainment industry, with many eagerly awaiting how the involved parties would respond.

Maria Kano previously announced her marriage to a non-celebrity man in June 2021 and publicly shared the news of her first child's birth in July 2024.
