Kim Jong-kook's Post-Marriage Diet Revealed: From Frozen Seaweed Soup to Wife's Home-Cooked Meals

Korean singer Kim Jong-kook (김종국)'s married life has been revealed for the first time. He recently shared on a broadcast the three meals his wife personally prepares for him, ranging from chicken breast fried rice and Greek yogurt for breakfast to homemade soy milk noodle soup for lunch. These meals, full of his new wife's affection, left the show's guests envious.

KBS 2TV's variety show “Problem Child in House” (옥탑방의 문제아들) released its latest preview on the 8th. The episode invited endocrinologist Oh Chang-yoon (오창윤) and rehabilitation medicine specialist Lee Jong-min (이종민), who successfully lost 52 kg, dropping from 100 kg to 48 kg, to review the hosts' daily diets.

When it was Kim Jong-kook's turn to reveal his meal plan, Yang Se-chan (양세찬) immediately asked, curious, “Did your wife prepare this? This is what newlywed couples are like!” Kim Jong-kook openly admitted, “My wife made it. I can't eat like this on my own,” revealing that his wife currently prepares almost all three of his daily meals.

For breakfast, Kim Jong-kook eats chicken breast fried rice with Greek yogurt, topped with nuts and blueberries. Lunch consists of soy milk noodles, with the soy milk soup base also homemade by his wife. For dinner, he enjoys his favorite ssam (lettuce wraps). While seemingly simple, his diet balances protein and vegetable intake.

After hearing about Kim Jong-kook's diet, Joo Woo-jae (주우재) couldn't help but exclaim, “You guys are really living together!” Yang Se-chan also looked envious, laughing and saying, “I want to get married too!” which brought laughter to the set.

Hong Jin-kyung (홍진경) then asked him, “Are you someone who eats three meals a day?” meaning whether he consistently eats three meals prepared by his wife every day. Kim Jong-kook replied with a shy smile, “It's the weekend now, and we don't have children yet, so that's why.” This unexpectedly revealed the couple's current lifestyle.

Endocrinologist Oh Chang-yoon, after reviewing Kim Jong-kook's menu, gave it high praise. He noted that while the protein intake was on the higher side, it was sufficient for Kim Jong-kook's physical condition. He also pointed out the ample portion of lettuce with dinner and that seaweed is an excellent source of dietary fiber, ultimately rating the diet as “optimal” and strongly endorsing Kim Jong-kook's post-marriage meal plan.

Kim Jong-kook has long been known for his dedication to fitness, strict diet, and physique management. Now, with his wife personally handling almost all his meals after marriage, fans have unexpectedly caught a glimpse of his sweet newlywed life.

At the time, he had ended 43 years of living with his family and officially started living alone. In the show, he would wake up and eat an apple for breakfast, even being extremely water-efficient when washing it, earning him the nickname “frugal master” from the show.

Moreover, Kim Jong-kook's cooking skills were quite rudimentary back then; breakfast was usually simple, and his refrigerator contained side dishes prepared by his mother in advance. On one occasion, he even took out frozen seaweed soup prepared by his mother, serving it directly before it had fully defrosted, showcasing a very simple lifestyle.
