Former AOA Member Kwon Mina Accuses Sister of Embezzling Over ₩700 Million, Threatens Legal Action

Former AOA member Kwon Mina (권민아) recently published a lengthy post, opening up about long-standing family disputes. She revealed that she has been out of contact with her older sister for years and accused her of financial misconduct, claiming that funds belonging to herself, her mother, and her mother's friends were allegedly misappropriated. The total amount is estimated to exceed ₩700 million to ₩800 million (approximately NT$16 million to NT$18 million). Mina stated that if a resolution cannot be reached through dialogue, she would consider pursuing legal action to hold her sister accountable.

On October 4, Kwon Mina posted on her personal social media, beginning with the question, “What exactly is family?” She expressed her complex feelings about family relationships, stating that after much reflection, the only “family” truly remaining in her heart is her mother.

She mentioned that her late father and her sister, who lost contact with her and her mother years ago, had both done things that made it difficult for her to view them as “family.” Kwon Mina claimed she had long known about her sister's financial issues, but at the time, she believed that “between family, there's no 'your money' or 'my money.'” She said she would have accepted it, even if her sister couldn't repay the money immediately, as long as she sincerely apologized and admitted her mistakes.

However, about two years ago, after inquiring with her mother, she learned the full details and discovered that her mother's assets, money from her own other accounts, and funds she had specifically intended for her mother, had all disappeared. This made her realize the seriousness of the situation.

Kwon Mina also recalled her last phone call with her sister. She stated that when her sister was battling breast cancer, their mother would wake up every morning to prepare meals and tidy her room, doing her best to support her daughter through treatment. Mina tearfully pleaded with her sister, saying, “I'm okay, but Mom worked so hard to raise us. When you were sick, Mom took care of you every day. You just need to tell Mom 'I'm sorry' and admit your mistake.” However, she said her sister became emotional and even told her “not to contact her again.” The call ended with both of them shouting at each other.

Kwon Mina further revealed that she personally covered the costs of her sister's breast cancer treatment and subsequent cosmetic surgeries. She also accused her sister of spreading false rumors about their mother to her boyfriend and others, causing their mother to face external criticism and distress.

Regarding the financial dispute, Kwon Mina provided specific figures. She claimed to possess a document for approximately ₩150 million (approximately NT$3.4 million) that could be considered a loan agreement. Additionally, she accused her sister of having her sign for a vehicle purchase exceeding ₩100 million (approximately NT$2.3 million) through other means. Including her own, her mother's, and other related funds, the total amount could exceed ₩700 million to ₩800 million.

However, the aforementioned content is currently Kwon Mina's unilateral account shared via social media. The actual amounts, flow of funds, and whether criminal liability is involved still await further investigation and confirmation through judicial procedures.

Kwon Mina stated that her true anger was not about what her sister did to her, but “why does an innocent mother have to suffer because of these things?” She revealed that her mother has been under immense pressure recently, experiencing emotional issues such as depression and anxiety, and her health has also been affected. She emphasized that her demands for her sister were not extensive: “All I want is for you to apologize to Mom and admit your mistake.”

Kwon Mina also appealed to her sister, hoping that if there was still a chance, they could let go of their resentment and emotions, and once again become family members who could support each other and stand by each other's side.

However, she also stated that if her sister had no intention of reconciliation, she would pursue legal action, mentioning charges such as fraud, forgery of private documents, embezzlement, and intimidation, and would clarify the truth through legal procedures.

In addition to the current family disputes, Kwon Mina also reflected on her childhood in the lengthy post, revealing that she started working part-time to earn money in middle school and even had to help cover household expenses.

She explained that because her father did not pay child support on time, she even had to call him personally to demand it. At that time, she was attending school and working part-time, living a completely different life path from her sister. She also mentioned that while her friends envied her for having an older sister to rely on, she had hoped for her sister's protection but was asked not to reveal their sisterly relationship to others. Recalling these past events, Kwon Mina concluded by writing, “Sister, you are truly cruel.”

Kwon Mina previously promoted as a member of AOA, and after leaving the group, she transitioned into acting and variety shows. In recent years, she has periodically shared updates and personal thoughts with fans through her social media.
