1930s Gyeongseong: Where Espionage Meets Romance
'One Hundred Days of Lies' is set in Gyeongseong (경성), the former name for Seoul, during the Japanese colonial period in 1932. She meets Kim Tae-woong (김태웅), also known as Sato Hideo, played by Park Jinyoung (박진영), an elite interpreter and consul general for the Joseon Government-General, as they navigate the heart of enemy territory. The drama is a collaboration between director Yoo In-shik (유인식), known for 'Extraordinary Attorney Woo,' and writer Ryu Bo-ri (류보리) of 'Do You Like Brahms?'. Veteran actors like Kim Hyun-joo (김현주), Lee Moo-saeng (이무생), and Jin Seon-kyu (진선규) also star, adding even more depth to the series.

Beyond the Era: Deep Storytelling and 'Adult Romance' Offer Diverse Viewing Points
Director Yoo In-shik (유인식) described the drama as containing "a tense spy story, heartbreaking love, and the tales of independence activists who sacrificed for their country's freedom." He also emphasized the efforts made for historical accuracy, noting that recreating the Japanese colonial era setting was a significant challenge because "there aren't many remaining buildings or places from that time, so the art direction was a huge undertaking." Beyond the romance between Kim Yoo-jung (김유정) and Park Jinyoung (박진영), the "adult romance" portrayed by Kim Hyun-joo (김현주) and Lee Moo-saeng (이무생) is also highlighted as another key viewing point. Kim Hyun-joo raised expectations by stating, "Our romance is just as poignant and heartfelt." TVBS (2026-10-01) selected this drama as one of its recommended October titles, reflecting the high anticipation for the Kim Yoo-jung and Park Jinyoung pairing.
