This release marks their first full-group album in two years and two months since 'Cosmic' in June 2024, and their first summer comeback in two years, generating immense anticipation among fans.

This time, their new title track, 'Surfin' Boy,' departs from their previous bright and lively summer style. It blends laid-back Bossa Nova guitar, reggae rhythms, and house music elements to create a more mature and relaxed summer atmosphere.

In addition to Red Velvet's signature dreamy and refreshing harmonies, member Joy (조이) independently penned the lyrics, infusing the song with genuine emotion and a distinct summer feel.

2. Star-Studded Production Team with Two Tracks Penned by Joy

The new album 'Velvet Summer' features five tracks, all centered around the theme of 'summer.' It showcases Red Velvet's broad musical versatility, incorporating diverse genres such as Bossa Nova, Reggae, Dance, classical, and acoustic.

Joy not only wrote the lyrics for the title track 'Surfin' Boy' but also for the B-side track 'Hawaii,' demonstrating her continuously evolving songwriting skills.
