The controversy surrounding YouTuber Park We (박위) and actress Song Ji-eun (송지은) continues to escalate. A video of the couple celebrating the Chuseok holiday with Park We's family before their marriage recently resurfaced, leading some netizens to question whether Song Ji-eun was neglected during the gathering due to actress Yoon So-hee's (윤소희) close relationship with the Park family. As the dispute widens, Yoon So-hee has also been inadvertently affected, with her social media platforms flooded with negative comments, raising speculation about whether she will disable her comment section.
The controversy stems from a video titled 'First Chuseok at My In-Laws!' uploaded by Park We on his YouTube channel 'WERACLE' in September 2024. Park We and his then-fiancée Song Ji-eun visited his parents' home for the holiday. What was intended to be a video documenting a family reunion has now sparked renewed debate over certain interactions, with Yoon So-hee, who shares a close relationship with the Park family, unexpectedly becoming a focal point of discussion.
Yoon So-hee has a special connection with Park We's father, renowned drama director Park Chan-hong (박찬홍). She previously appeared in the tvN drama 'Memory,' directed by Park Chan-hong, and was later referred to by some as his adopted daughter, fostering a very close relationship with the Park family.
In the video, Yoon So-hee arrived at the Park family home earlier than Song Ji-eun, even greeting her in pajamas. She interacted naturally with the family, as if she were one of their own daughters. Park We jokingly told his father, “With So-hee here, it’s like your daughter has come home.” Song Ji-eun echoed, “It’s like she’s always been here.” This conversation has now resurfaced, leading some netizens to question Song Ji-eun’s position within the in-laws’ home.
Beyond the intimate interactions, a segment during the pre-meal prayer also sparked discussion. As Park We, Song Ji-eun, Yoon So-hee, and Park We's parents sat at the dining table to pray, Park We stated, “Thank you for allowing my beloved So-hee, Ji-eun, and me, Mom, and Dad, to have a pleasant and happy time.” Because he mentioned Yoon So-hee first, before his then-fiancée Song Ji-eun, some netizens found this order to be somewhat unusual.
Furthermore, the tableware arrangement at the dinner table became another point of contention. In the video, Park We's parents, Park We, and Yoon So-hee (who is considered his honorary younger sister) appeared to use identical tableware, while only Song Ji-eun used different plates and bowls. This led some netizens to question, “Why is only the daughter-in-law’s tableware different?” However, the footage only depicts the dining situation at the time, and it is impossible to definitively conclude whether differential treatment was involved based solely on these video clips.
Moreover, Director Park Chan-hong praised Yoon So-hee, a graduate of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), in front of Song Ji-eun, stating directly, “So-hee is very smart.” This interaction has also been scrutinized. Some netizens believe that Park We's family seemed to show exceptional care for Yoon So-hee, who is closely related to the family, making Song Ji-eun, who was about to join the family, appear somewhat out of place, further fueling discussions about whether the daughter-in-law was being neglected.

However, the current controversy primarily stems from netizens' interpretations of the video content, making it impossible to confirm whether Song Ji-eun was indeed neglected or to ascertain the true feelings of those involved. As the discussion expands, Yoon So-hee has been affected simply by appearing in the video, prompting some netizens to call for a rational perspective and to avoid turning dissatisfaction with the incident into personal attacks on a third party.
