A video of actor Seo Kang-joon (서강준) from 12 years ago, dubbed his 'embarrassing past,' has recently resurfaced, leading the actor himself to leave a humorous comment that has gone viral.
On May 16, Korean OTT platform Wavve (웨이브) shared a short clip from MBC's 'Radio Star' on its official social media, writing: "He's now the irresistible 'wicked gentle man' in 'Love Besides You,' but in his rookie days, he was someone who performed 'Growl' more seriously and professionally than anyone else."
The video shows Seo Kang-joon's appearance on 'Radio Star' in January 2014. As a rookie at the time, he sat at a piano and personally played the chorus of EXO's popular song "Growl" (으르렁).
Although his piano playing sounded a bit unpolished, Seo Kang-joon maintained an extremely serious expression throughout, creating a stark contrast. Midway through the performance, he suddenly lifted his hands from the keys and, with a straight face, shouted "Growl!" (으르렁), causing the studio guests to erupt in laughter. His handsome looks combined with the unexpected comedic performance made the clip a classic due to its strong contrast.
Unexpectedly, about 12 years later, his 'embarrassing past' was dug up again, and Seo Kang-joon himself didn't take it silently. He directly commented under Wavve's post, asking: "Excuse me, Mr. Wavve, what exactly did I do wrong?"
It turns out Wavve specifically unearthed Seo Kang-joon's 'embarrassing past' from his rookie days to promote his new drama. His direct and humorous response, however, left netizens in stitches. Even after many years, Seo Kang-joon maintains his handsome appearance, once again becoming a hot topic among netizens.
Meanwhile, Seo Kang-joon is currently starring as Namgung Ho (남궁호) in the KBS 2TV drama 'Love Besides You' (너 말고 다른 연애). The series tells a realistic and empathetic love story about a couple who have been together for 10 years, suddenly facing unfamiliar emotions within their familiar relationship.
