Taemin shares his memories of Jonghyun

SHINee's Taemin returned to the music scene on the 30th with his new work "Guity". This is not only his first mini-album after being discharged from the military, but also his first solo work in two years, much to the anticipation of many fans.

Recently, Taemin appeared on singer Lee Mujin's YouTube show "Lee Mujin Service" to promote his new album. He not only talked about his debut memories and journey, but also mentioned the late member Jonghyun, touching many fans.

Taemin revealed that during an open audition at SM Entertainment, he had prepared only for a dance performance, but was surprised to find out he had to sing as well. This sudden realization made him lose hope and say, "I probably won't pass," and, "I should just go home." However, he was able to regain his confidence and show his true self once it was time for the second audition category - dance.

Next, Taemin also revealed that he had a great deal of pressure as he barely had time to take vocal lessons after becoming a trainee and was already preparing to debut. Due to Taemin's voice changing period at that time, his limited vocal range once made him consider giving up his debut.

Taemin honestly said, at that time he thought he was not ready yet, so when he was preparing to debut, he even told his parents and the agency several times that he did not want to debut. Remembering all these past events, Taemin also laughed and said that in the end, he still got the help from his parents and the agency.

In fact, after SHINee debuted, Taemin didn't get much of the singing part, which made him quite angry at himself. Taemin said, "Since the members were already good at singing, I realized I can't keep this up, I might trouble the members. A singer sings, although dance is also dance, but I should practice singing first.". Therefore, Taemin made his way to the practice room every day from the age of 16 to 21, regardless of what time his schedule ended, he would practice till morning.

Finally, Taemin emotionally stated during his performance of TheRay's song "Cleaning": "This song is one that our member Jonghyun has practiced for a long time. Since he was naturally good at singing, I always thought, 'Wow, he's so cool.'We started singing it when we were preparing to debut, so we practiced it together." "The time we spent together as members was really long and living in the dorm, we also experienced this inseparable affection. Although this song is actually a farewell song, I think if I sing it with my own mentality it will be good. That's why I chose to sing this song on the show."
