Amber ranks Top 2 in a Chinese Survival Program and makes a re-debut in a girl group. “There were a lot of scary moments, but I won't let my fear stop me”, Amber stated.
Amber debuted in Korea as a member of SM's iconic girl group, f(x), and was loved by the public due to their numerous hit songs such as Chu, Hot Summer, Pinocchio, and many more. f(x) was known as SM's first experimental girl group because their sound and concept totally change every comeback.
However, after the fourth full-length album in October 2015, the group started their indefinite hiatus since there were no group activities until the members left the company. Amber's exclusive contract expired in 2019.
After the contract expiration, Amber went to the U.S. and signed a contract with Steel Wool Entertainment. That's when she started doing solo promoting alone and did her other solo stuff.
Luna also signed an exclusive contract with Humap Contents in the same year. Meanwhile, Krystal signed an exclusive contract with H& Contract and pursue her career as an actress. As per Victoria, SM tried to discuss with her when her contract expired but after that Victoria confirmed that she had finally left SM. This was an indirect message to the fans that f(x) technically disbanded.
Amber posted on her Instagram saying how the last four months changed her life. Amber said that she entered the show because she wants to challenge herself and get out of her comfort zone, but now she's leaving the show with the confidence that her colleagues gave her. She thanked everyone for making wonderful memories with her.
Aside from re-debuting, Amber is also scheduled to hold a Concert Tour 'No More Sad Songs' in China next month.
