Since the THAAD missile defense system incident in 2016, tensions between China and South Korea have been gradually increasing. China has implemented various restrictions, extending to activities of artists in the entertainment industry. As a result, it has become exceedingly difficult for Korean artists to pursue activities in China.

However, BTS member SUGA, who is currently busy with their world tour, recently discussed the topic of being unable to have a concert tour in China during a live broadcast. His exceptionally rational analysis of the current situation sparked a heated discussion among Korean netizens.

During the live broadcast, SUGA seemed to have been asked by fans, 'Why don't you go on a concert tour in China?' However, SUGA responded, 'Are there any Korean artists who can perform in China? How can we go on a tour?' He further questioned, 'Is there any Korean artist currently able to engage in activities in China? I don't think so, right?' and stated, 'Everyone, we really can't go to China for our activities.'

SUGA stated, "I also really want to go. Wherever there are ARMYs, I would love to perform there." He added, "I feel really uneasy about not being able to go. Honestly, I want to go to any place where we can perform." He also mentioned that during the tour, he saw many Chinese fans, but unfortunately, they cannot go to China at the moment.

SUGA analysed, "In the K-pop industry, some groups may have members from different countries or even Chinese members. While individuals might have the possibility to go, it is practically impossible for the entire group to conduct activities in China. That's the current situation. Unfortunately, there is currently no feasible way for Korean artists to go to China for activities."

However, as soon as the live broadcast segment was exposed, it quickly triggered a discussion among Korean netizens. Some netizens commented, "They should discuss this with Xi Jinping," but many others agreed with SUGA's remarks, stating, "SUGA is speaking the truth," "That's exactly how it is," "SUGA's response was direct and to the point. Otherwise, Chinese fans would keep questioning why they don't go to China," and "He's absolutely right. It's just the way things are.

In fact, before the pandemic, there were several Korean groups that visited various cities in China to hold offline signing events. However, after the outbreak of the pandemic, it became rare for groups to travel to China. Instead, they have largely switched to conducting virtual signing events or limiting their activities to Hong Kong and Macau.

However, the recent announcement by the girl group LE SSERAFIM about their upcoming signing event in Guangzhou has sparked considerable curiosity among fans. Many are wondering if this signals a relaxation of the "Korea limitation order."
